4 Guardian Spirit, lest we stray,
Keep us in the heavenly way!
74 WE give immortal praise
To God the Father's love,
And better hopes above;
To die for sins that man had done.
Immortal glory too,
From everlasting woe;
And sees the fruit of all his pains.
Immortal worship give,
Makes the dead sinner live ;
And fills the soul with joy divine.
Be endless honour done,-
and Godhead one : Where reason fails with all her powers, There faith prevails, and love adores.
75 FATHER of heaven, whose love profound
A ransom for our souls hath found,
To us Thy pardoning love extend. 2 Almighty Son, Incarnate Word,
Our Prophet, Priest, Redeemer, Lord,
To us Thy saving grace extend. 3 Eternal Spirit, by whose breath
The soul is raised from sin and death,
To us Thy quickening power extend. 4 Jehovah, Father, Spirit, Son,
Mysterious Godhead! Three in One!
76 HOLY, holy, holy, Lord,
God of hosts, by all ador’d,
Of Thy glorious majesty!
Worthy thou, the dying Lamb.
3 All' as one adore the Lord,
Father, Spirit, and the Word.
77 GREAT the joy, the union sweet,
When the saints together meet ; When, their theme of praise the same, They exalt Jehovah's name.
2 Sing we then eternal love,
Such as did the Father move:
3 Sing: the Son's unbounded love;
How he left the realms above,
4 Sing we, too, the Spirit's love :
With our stubborn hearts he strove,
5 Great the joy, the union sweet,
When the saints in glory meet;
78 FATHER, Son, and Holy Ghost, ,
One in Three, and Three in One,
Let Thy will on earth be done!
2 If a worm so mean as I
Can Thy glory, Lord, forth shew,
inmost soul renew :
3 Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
One in Three, and Three in One!
Let Thy will on earth be done !
79 BLEST book of God, that greets mine ear,
With news of saving might;
The star that guides aright.
2 Here is the spring, whence waters flow
To quench my heat of sin;
To lead my life therein.
3 Here is the judge that ends the strife
When men's devices fail :
Which death cannot assail.
4 But help me, Lord, in every case
To read with single eye,
To understand thereby.
That pardon I may win ;
To mortify my sin.
80 HOLY Bible, book divine;
Precious treasure ! thou art mine;
Mine, to teach me what I am;
Mine, to show a Saviour's love ;
Mine, to judge, condemn, acquit;
If the Holy Spirit bless;
Man can triumph over death !
And the rebel-sinner's doom :
