MORNING. ALL praise to Thee who safe hast kept, 11 And hast refreshed me while I slept; Grant, Lord, when I from death shall wake,
I may of endless life partake,
Disperse my sins as morning dew;
And with Thyself my spirit fill.
All I design or do or say ;
In Thy sole glory may unite, 4 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
TIMELY happy, timely wise,
Hearts that with rising morn arise ; Through sleep and darkness safely brought,
Restor'd to life, to pow'r and thought. 2 New mercies each returning day
Hover around us as we pray;
New thoughts of God, new hopes of heav'n. 3 Only, O Lord, in Thy great love
Fit us for perfect rest above;
OPEN thine eyes, my soul, and see
The light of day restor'd to thee; And lift thine heart and choose the way
Thou mean'st to travel through the day. 2 Think of the dangers thou may'st meet,
And watch with care thy sliding feet;
And mark the place, and fall no more. 3 Think of the helps thy God bestows,
And cast to steer thy course by those :
When thou didst well, and do so still. 4 Guard Thou, O Lord, my daily course :
Draw me with love's constraining force ;
M Y God, how endless is Thy love,
Thy gifts are ev'ry ev’ning new ; And morning mercies from above Gently distil like early dew. 2 Thou spread'st the curtain of the night, Great Guardian of my sleeping hours ; Again Thy word restores the light,
And quickens all my drowsy pow'rs. 3 I yield my pow'rs to Thy command,
To Thee I consecrate my days;
3 1 yield is consecracom Thy.
5 CHRIST, whose glory fills the skies ;
Christ, the true and only light;
Triumph o'er the shades of night:
Light to cheer my clouded heart: 2 Dark and cheerless is the morn,
Unenlighten'd, Lord, by Thée;
Till Thy brightning beams we see :
Light to cheer my clouded heart.
Pierce the gloom of sin and grief;
All the mists of unbelief;
6 GUArough the
Through the perils of the night:
Turn my darkness into light.
May my thoughts be still with Thee : Take me to Thy care and keeping,
Watch, preserve, and comfort me.
