2 Awake, awake! put on thy strength,
Thy beautiful array;

The day of freedom dawns at length,
The Lord's appointed day.

3 Rebuild thy walls, thy bounds enlarge,
And send thy heralds forth;

Say to the south, Give up thy charge,
And keep not back, O north!'

4 They come, they come ;

thine exiled bands,

Where'er they rest or roam,

Have heard thy voice in distant lands,
And hasten to their home.

The Same.

1 O, WHO shall see the glorious day,
When, throned on Zion's brow,
The Lord shall rend the veil away
That hides the nations now!
When earth no more beneath the fear
Of his rebuke shall lie,

When pain shall cease, and every tear
Be wiped from every eye!

2 Then, Judah, thou no more shalt mourn
Beneath the heathen's chain;

Thy days of splendor shall return,
And all be new again.

The fount of life shall then be quaffed
In peace by all who come,

And every wind that blows shall waft
Sóme long-lost exile home.

Missionary Hymn.

1 FROM Greenland's icy mountains,
From India's coral strand,
Where Afric's sunny fountains
Roll down their golden sand;
From many an ancient river,
From many a palmy plain,-
They call us to deliver

Their land from error's chain.

2 Shall we, whose souls are lighted
With wisdom from on high-
Shall we to men benighted
The lamp of life deny ?
Salvation! - O, salvation!
The joyful sound proclaim,
Till earth's remotest nation
Has learned Messiah's name.

3 Waft, waft, ye winds, his story;
And you, ye waters, roll,
Till, like a sea of glory,

It spreads from pole to pole;
Till o'er our ransomed nature,
The Lamb for sinners slain,
Redeemer, Renovator,

Returns in bliss to reign.

The Same.

O'ER the realms of pagan darkness
Let the eye of pity gaze;
See the kindred of the people
Lost in sin's bewildering maze;
Darkness brooding

On the face of all the earth.

COTTERILL.

2 Light of them that sit in darkness!
Rise and shine,thy blessings bring;
Light to lighten all the Gentiles!
Rise with healing in thy wing!
To thy brightness

Let all kings and nations come.

3 May the heathen, now adoring
Idol-gods of wood and stone,
Come, and, worshipping before him,
Serve the living God alone;
Let thy glory

Fill the earth-as floods, the sea.

4 Thou to whom all power is given, Speak the word;-at thy command, Let the company of preachers

Spread thy name from land to land;
Lord, be with them

Alway to the end of time.

WATTS.

Shall we sin because Grace abounds?

1 SHALL we go on to sin,
Because thy grace abounds?
Or crucify the Lord again,
And open all his wounds?

2 Forbid it, mighty God!
Nor let it e'er be said,
That we, whose sins are crucified,
Should raise them from the dead.

3 We will be slaves no more,
Since Christ has made us free,
Has nailed our tyrants to his cross,
And bought our liberty.

The Gospel revealed to Babes.

1 JESUS, the man of constant grief,
A mourner all his days,
His spirit once rejoiced aloud,
And turned his joy to praise.
2 Father, I thank thy wondrous love,
That hath revealed thy Son
To men unlearned; and unto babes
Hath made thy gospel known.

3 The mysteries of redeeming grace
Are hidden from the wise;

While pride and carnal reasonings join
To swell and blind their eyes.'

4 Thus doth the Lord of heaven and earth
His great decrees fulfil,

And orders all his works of grace
By his own sovereign will.

The perfect Law of Liberty.

1 BEHOLD that wise, that perfect law,
Which noblest freedom gives:

O may it all our souls refine,
And sanctify our lives!

2 Not with a transient glance surveyed,
And in an hour forgot,

But deep inscribed on every heart,
To reign o'er every thought.

3 Great Author of each perfect gift!
Thy gracious power display,

That our ungrateful, wandering hearts
May hearken and obey.

Adoption, as Sons of God.

1 BEHOLD, what wondrous
The Father hath bestowed
On sinners of a mortal race,
To call them sons of God!

WATTS.

2 'Tis no surprising thing,
That we should be unknown;
The Jewish world knew not their King,
God's everlasting Son.

3 Nor doth it yet appear

How great we must be made; But when we see our Savior here, We shall be like our Head.

4 A hope so much divine

May trials well endure,

May purge our souls from sense and sin, As Christ the Lord is pure.

5 If in my Father's love
I share a filial part,

Send down thy Spirit like a dove
To rest upon my heart.

6 We would no longer lie

Like slaves beneath the throne; Our faith shall'Abba, Father,' cry, And thou the kindred own.

Punishment without Rejection. Ps. 89.

Should break my laws, abuse my grace, And tempt mine anger down,
