(PART SECOND.)

3.

The Lord abounds with tender love,
And unexampled acts of grace!
His waken'd wrath doth slowly move;
His willing mercy flows apace!

4.

As high as heav'n its arch extends
Above this little spot of clay,-

So much his boundless love transcends
The small respect that we can pay.

5.

As far as 'tis from east to west,
So far has he our sins remov'd;
Who, with a father's tender breast,

Has those, who fear him, always lov'd.

PSALM XXV.

1.

Oн render thanks to God above,

The fountain of eternal love!

Whose mercy firm, through ages past, Has stood, and shall for ever last!

2.

Who can his mighty deeds express
Not only vast, but numberless ?
What mortal eloquence can raise
His tribute of immortal praise?

3.

Oh grant to me that favour, Lord,

Thou to thy chosen dost afford;

When thou shalt come to set them free, Let thy salvation visit me.

PSALM XXVI.

(PART FIRST.)

1.

WHEN Israel, freed from Pharoah's hand,
Left the proud tyrant and his land;
The tribes with cheerful homage own
Their King, and Judah was his throne.

2.

Across the deep their journey lay,
The deep divides to make them way;
The streams of Jordan saw and fled,
With backward current, to their head!

3.

The mountains shook like frighted sheep, Like lambs the hills and mountains leap! Not Sinai on its base could stand, Conscious of sov'reign pow'r at hand!

(PART SECOND.)

4.

What pow'r could make the deep divide,
Make Jordan backward roll its tide?
Why did ye leap, ye little hills?
And whence the fright that Sinai feels?

5.

Let ev'ry mountain, ev'ry flood
Retire, and know th'approaching God,
The king of Israel, see him here-
Tremble thou earth, adore and fear.

6.

He thunders, and all nature mourns! The rock to standing pools he turns! Flints spring with fountains at his word, And earth and sea confess the Lord!

E

PSALM XXVII.

1.

PRAISE the Lord with hallowed mirth, Ev'ry nation, tribe, and tongue; Christians, militant on earth,

Let your Saviour's praise be sung.

2.

See his mercy o'er our land
Spread its ever-healing wing;
And his truth through ages stand,—

Praise, oh praise, the eternal king.
