Bliss he wakes,and woe he light - ens, God is wisdom, God is love.

9:25

26

A-MEN.

2 Chance and change are busy ever; 3 E'en the hour that darkest seemeth,

Man decays, and ages move;

But his mercy waneth never;

God is wisdom, God is love.

Will his changeless goodness prove;

From the gloom his brightness streameth;
God is wisdom, God is love.

4 He with earthly cares entwineth
Hope and comfort from above;
Everywhere his glory shineth;
God is wisdom, God is love.

9:4 4

1. In thee, our Fa-ther, are we all at home; Thou dost sur-round us like the

bient air; Or like a bound - less sea, o'er which we roam,

[blocks in formation]

As the Father who would have us Come and gather round his feet? A-MEN.

2 There's a wideness in God's mercy Like the wideness of the sea; There's a kindness in his justice

Which is more than liberty. There's no place where earthly sorrows Are more felt than up in heaven; There's no place where earthly failings Have such kindly judgment given.

3 There is grace enough for thousands
Of new worlds as great as this;
There is room for fresh creations
In that upper home of bliss.
For the love of God is broader
Than the measures of man's mind,
And the heart of the Eternal
Is most wonderfully kind.

4 But we make his love too narrow
By false limits of our own,
And we magnify his strictness

With a zeal he will not own.
If our love were but more simple,
We should take him at his word,
And our lives would be all sunshine
In the sweetness of our Lord.
