2 The Lord is our Shepherd; what, then, shall we fear?
Shall dangers affrighten us while he is near?

O, no: when he calls us we'll walk through the vale,
The shadow of death, but our hearts shall not fail.

3 Afraid, of ourselves, to pursue the dark way,
Thy rod and thy staff be our comfort and stay;
We know by thy guidance, when once it is past,
To life and to glory it brings us at last.

4 The Lord is become our salvation and song,
His blessings have followed us all our life long;
His name will we praise, while he lends to us breath,
Be joyful through life, and resigned in our death.

I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
Upheld by my gracious, omnipotent hand.

3 "When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
For I will be with thee thy trials to bless,
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

4 "When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
My grace, all-sufficient, shall be thy supply,
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine."

It drops in gentle showers of rain,
And rolls in every

3 Through the whole earth it pours supplies,

Spreads joy through every part:
O, may such love attract my eyes,
And captivate my heart!

4 My highest admiration raise,
My best affections move,
Employ my tongue in songs of praise,
And fill my heart with love.
