7 While I gaz d with speed surprising,
Down the stream he plung’d from sight!
Gazing still—I saw him rising,
Like an angel cloth'd with light:—
Saying—“I’m bound for the Kingdom, &c."
3 Cease, my heart, this mournful crying,
Death will burst this sullen gloom;
Soon my spirit, flutt’ring, flying,
Will be borne beyond the tomb.
So, I’ll seek for the Kingdom,
Yes, to glory l’ll go with you,
And sing hallelujah, praise the Lord.

Hymn 252. 8, 7.4.

1 Now the Saviour stands a pleading,
At the sinner's bolted heart;
Now in heav'n he's interceding,
Undertaking sinners part.

Sinners, can you hate this Saviour?
Who descended from above,
Once he dy’d for your behaviour,
Now he calls you to his love.
2 Sinners, hear your God and Saviour,
Hear his gracious voice to day,
Turn from all your vain behaviour,
O repent, return, and pray.
Sinners, can you hate, &c.

3 O be wise before you languish
On the bed of dying strife,
Endless joy, or endless anguish,
Turn upon the events of life.
Sinners, can you hate, &c.

4 Now he's waiting to be gracious, Now he stands and looks on thee,

See what kindness, love and pity,
Shine around on you and me.
Sinners, can you hate, &c.

5 Open now your hearts before him,
Bid the Saviour welcome in,
Now receive, and O, adore him,
Take a full discharge from sin.
Sinners, can you hate, &c.

$ Come, for all things now are ready,
Yet there's room for many more ;
O ye blind, ye lame and needy,
Come to wisdom's boundless store.
Sinners, can you hate, &c.

Hymn 253. H. M. JMidnight Cry. Mat. xxv. 6, 1. YE virgin souls arise, With all the dead awake; Unto salvation wise, Oil in your vessels take; Upstanding at the midnight cry, Behold your heavenly bridegroom nigh. 2. He comes, he comes, to call The nations to his bar, And takes to glory all Who meet for glory are ; Make ready for your free reward; Go forth with joy to meet your Lord. 3 Go meet him in the sky, Your everlasting friend; Your head to glorify, With all his saints ascend; Ye pure in heart, obtain the grace, To see, without a veil, his face. 4 Ye saints, rejoice in hope Of that great day unknown,

When you shall be caught up,
To stand before his throne—
Call'd to partake the marriage feast,
And lean on your Immanuel's breast.

Hymn 25A. H. M.
.4 tortement.

1 AR1se, my soul, arise,
Shake off thy guilty fears,
The bleeding sacrifice,
In my behalf appears;
Before the throne my Saviour stands;
My name is written on his hands.

2 He ever lives above,
For me to intercede ;
With his redeeming love,
His precious blood to plead;
His blood was spilt for all our race,
And sprinkles now the throne of grace.

3 Five bleeding wounds he bears,
- Receiv'd on Calvary;
They pour effectual pray'rs,
They strongly speak for me:
Forgive him, O forgive they cry !
Nor let that ransom'd sinner die.
4 The Father hears him pray,
His dear anointed one;
He cannot turn away
The presence of his Son;
His Spirit answers to the blood,
And tells me l am born of God.

5 To God I'm reconcil'd,
His pard’ning voice I hear;
He owns me for his child,
I can no longer fear:
With confidence I now draw nigh,
And Father, Abba Father! cry.

Hymn 255. 8, 7.

Blind Bartimeus. [Tune, Supplicant.] MERcy, O thou son of David Thus blind Bartimeus pray’d Many by thy grace are saved, O'wilt thou vouchsafe thine aid ". For his crying, many chid him, But he cry’d the louder still Till his gracious Saviour bid him Come, and ask me what you will. 2 Money was not what he wanted, Though by begging us’d to live; But he ask'd, and Jesus granted Alms, which none but Christ could give. Lord, remove this grievous blindness, Turn my darkness into day; Straight he saw, and drawn by kindness, Follow'd Jesus in the way.

3 Now, methinks, I hear him praising,
Publishing to all around;
Friends, is not my case amazing?
What a Saviour I have found !
O that all the blind, but knew him,
And would be advis’d by me;
Surely, they would come unto him,
He would cause them all to see.
Hymn 256. H. M.

1 REJoice, the Lord is King,
Your God and King adore;
Mortals, give thanks, and sing,
And triumph evermore

Rejoice aloud, #. saints, rejoice.
1. -

2 Rejoice, the Saviour reigns,
The God of truth and love;
When he had purg'd our stains,
He took his seat above :
Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,
Rejoice aloud, ye saints, rejoice.
3 His kingdom cannot fail,
He rules o'er earth and heav'n ;
The keys of death and hell,
Are to our Jesus given :
Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,
Rejoice aloud, ye saints rejoice.

4 He all his foes shall quell,
Shall all our sins destroy;
And every bosom swell
With pure seraphic joy:
Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,
Rejoice aloud, ye saints, rejoice.
5 Rejoice in glorious hope,
esus the Judge shall come,
And take his servants up
To their eternal home:
We soon shall hear the archangel's voice,
The trump of God shall sound rejoice.
