O that each from his Lord
May receive the glad word,
'Well and faithfully done?

Enter into my joy, and sit down on my throne.'

HYMN 17.-P. M.

VITAL spark of heav'nly flame,

Quit, O quit this mortal frame,
Trembling, hoping, ling ring, flying,
O the pain the biss of dying;
Cease, fond nature, cease thy strife,
And let me languish into life.

2 Hark! they whisper, angels say,
"Sister spirit come away;"
What is this absorbs me quite!
Steals my senses, shuts my sight?
Drowns my spirit, draws my breath?
Tell me, my soul, can this be death?

3 The world recedes, it disappears!
Heav'n opens on my eyes-my ears
With sounds seraphic ring!

Lend, lend your wings, I mount! I fly!
O grave, where is thy victory?
O death where is thy sting?

HYMN 18.-8, 8, 6s.

THOU that hear'st the pray'r of
faith,

Wilt thou not save a soul from death,
That casts itself on thee?

I have no refuge of my own,

But fly to what my Lord hath done,
And suffer'd once for me.

2 Slain in the guilty sinner's stead,
His spotless righteousness I plead,
And his availing blood.

Thy righteousness my robe shall be,
Thy merit shall atone for me,

And bring me near to God.

3 Then snatch me from eternal death,
The spirit of adoption breathe,
His consolation send.

By him some word of life impart,
And sweetly whisper to my heart
"Thy Maker is thy friend."

4 The King of terrors then would be A welcome messenger to me,

To bid me come away.

Unclogg'd by earth or earthly things,

I'd mount I'd fly with eager wings,
To everlasting day.

HYMN 19.-12s.

HE voice of free grace, cries escape to the mountain,

THE

For Adam's lost race, Christ has opened a fountain,

For sin and transgression, and every pol

lution;

The blood flows most freely in streams of salvation,

Hallelujah to the Lamb who has bless'd us with pardon,

And we'll praise him again when we pass over Jordon.

2 This fountain so clear, in which all may find pardon,

From Jesus' side flows a plenteous redemption;

Though your sins were as great and high as a mountain,

The blood it flows freely in streams of salvation.

Hallelujah to the Lamb who has bless'd us with pardon,

And we'll praise him again when we pass over Jordon.

3' O Jesus ride on! thy kingdom is glori

ous;

Over sin, death and hell thou wilt make us victorious.

Thy name shall be prais'd in the great congregation,

And saints shall delight in ascribing salvation.

Hallelujah to the Lamb who has bless'd us with pardon,

And we'll praise him again when we pass over Jordan.

4 When on Zion we stand, having gain'd the blest shore,

With our harps in our hand, we will praise

evermore;

We'll range the blest fields, on the banks of the river,

And sing hallelujah forever and ever.
Hallelujah, &c.

HYMN 20.-7s.

IS a point I long to know,

Oft it causes anxious thought.

Do I love the Lord, or no?

Am I his, or am I not!

2 1fI love, why am I thus?

Why this dull, this lifeless frame?

Hardly, sure, can they be worse; Who have never heard his name.

3 Could my heart so hard remain,
Pray'r a task and burden prove-
Ev'ry trifle give me pain--
If I knew a Saviour's love?

4 When I turn my eyes within,
All is dark, and vain, and wild;
Fil'd with unbelief and sin--
Can I deem myself a child?

5 If I pray, or hear, or read,
Sin is mix'd with a'l I do;
You who love the Lord indeed,
Tell me is it so with you?

6 Yet I mourn my stubborn will,
Find my sin a grief a thrall;
Should I grieve for what I feel,
If I did not love at all?

7 Could I joy his saints to meet, Choose the ways I once abhorr'dFind, at times, the promise sweet, If I did not love the Lord?
