Now to glory see him rise,
In long triumph, up the sky-
Up to waiting worlds on high. Hal.

4 Praise him, all ye heavenly choirs.
Praise, and sweep your golden lyres!
Shout, O earth, in rapturous song,
Let the strains be sweet and strong!
Hallelujah! praise the Lord.

HYMN 32.-C. M.

Godly sorrow arising from the sufferings of Christ.

LAS! and did my Saviour bleed!
And did my Sovereign die?
Would he devote that sacred head
For such a worm as 1?

CHORUS.

"O the Lamb, the loving Lamb.
The Lamb on Calvary,

The Lamb was slain and lives again,
To intercede for me."

2 Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, thine And bath'd in its own blood,

While all expos'd to wrath divine,
The glorious sufferer stood.

3 Was it for crimes that I had done,
He groan'd upon the tree?
Amazing pity, grace unknown!
And love beyond degree.

4 Well might the sun in darkness hide,
And shut his glories in,

When God, the mighty Maker, died,
For man, the creature's sin.'

5 Thus I might hide my blushing face,
While his dear cross appears,
Disolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt mine eyes in tears.

6 But drops of grief can ne'er repay
'The debt of love I owe,
Here, Lord, I give my self away;
"Tis all that I can do.

shone

'Tis midnight-in the garden now,
The suff'ring Saviour prays alone.

2 "Tis midnight-and from all remov'd,
Immanuel wrestles alone, with fears;
E'en the disciples that he lov'd
Heeds not his Master's grief and tears.

3 'Tis midnight-and for others' guilt
The man of sorrow weeps in blood,
Yet he that hath in anguish knelt,
Is not forsaken by his God.

4 'Tis midnight- and from ether plains,
Is borne the song that angels know;
Unheard by mortals are the strains
That sweetly soothe the Saviour's wo

HYMN 34.-L. M.

The Star of Bethlehem.

HEN marshall'd on the nightly plain,

W The glittering host bestud the sky;

One star alone, of all the train,

Can fix the sinner's wandering eye.

2 Hark! hark to God the chorus breaks, From every host, from every gem;

But one alone the Saviour speaks,
It is the star of Bethlehem.

3 Once on the raging seas I rode,

The storm was loud, the night was dark, The ocean yawn'd and rudely blow'd The wind that toss'd my foundering bark.

4 Deep horror then my vitals froze, Death struck, I ceas'd the tide to stem, When suddenly a star arose,

It was the star of Bethlehem.

5 It was my guide, my light, my all,
It bade my dark forebodings cease;
And through the storm and dangers thrall,
It led me to the port of peace.

6 Now safely moor'd-my perils o'er, I'll sing, first in night's diadem; Forever and forevermore,

The star-the star of Bethlehem.

HYMN 35.-S. M.

Lamb of God.

TOT all the blood of beasts.

N%

On Jewish altars slain,

Could give the guilty conscience peace, Or wash away the stain.

2 But Christ the heavenly Lamb,
Takes all our sins away;
A sacrifice of nobler name,
And richer blood than they.

8 My faith would lay her hand

On that dear head of thineWhile like a penitent I stand, And there confess my sin.

4 My soul looks back to see
The burdens thou didst bear,
When hanging on the cursed tree,
And hopes her guilt was there.

Believing, we rejoice

To see the curse remove;

We bless the Lamb with cheerful voice,
And sing his bleeding love.

HYMN 36.-C. M.

Fountain.

HERE is a fountain fill'd with blood,
Drawn from Immanuel's veins;
And sinners, plung'd beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains.

2 The dying chief rejoic'd to see That fountain in his day;
