6. O their crowns! how bright they sparkle,
Such as monarchs never wore,
They are gone to richer pastures,
Jesus is their shepherd there.
Hail ye happy, happy spirits,
Death no more shall make you fear,
Grief nor sorrow, pain nor anguish,
Shall no more distress you there.

HYMN 14. L. M.

Sweet is the mem'ry of the dead,
While sleeping on his dusty bed,
His body sleeps in silence, where
No glimm'ring sun can enter there.
2. O ye, who heard his voice below,
And wonder'd why he labor'd so,
Why he should preach till he was spent,
And then give up without consent.
3. Daughters of Zion, now draw near,
And hear his dying speech with fear-
"Have I done all? have I got through,
And finish'd what I had to do?

4. Another life could I live o'er,
And range the world from shore to shore,
I'd wear this mortal body down,
To gain a never fading crown."
5. I saw this faithful herald fall,
I saw him burst the prison wall,
And trac'd him when he took his flight,
To dwell among the saints in light.
6. I saw him round the city wall;

I heard the mighty angel call,

"Come in, cried he," the war is o'er," And then I saw his face no more.

HYMN 15. P. M.

Come and taste along with me
The weary pilgrim's consolation;
Boundless mercy running free,
The earnest of complete salvation.
Joy and peace in Christ I find,
My heart to him is all resign'd,
The fullness of his power I prove,
And all my soul's dissolved in love,
Jesus is the pilgrim's portion,
Love is boundless as the ocean.

2. When the world and flesh would rise, And strive to draw me from my Saviour, Strangers slight, or foes despise,

I then more highly prize his favor. Friends, believe me, when I tell, If Christ is present, all is well. The world and flesh in vain would rise, I all their efforts do despise ; In the world I've tribulation, But in Christ sweet consolation. 3. When I'm in the house of prayer, I find him in the congregation; Music sweet unto my ear

Is the sound of free salvation. My heart exults, my spirits flow, I love my God and brethren so;

I join and sing, and shout aloud,
And disregard the gazing crowd,
Glorious theme of exultation,
Jesus Christ is my salvation!
4. Worldlings hold me' in disdain,
Because I slight their carnal pleasure;
All in this that gives me pain,

Is, they slight a noble treasure.
But among them, bless the Lord,
There's some that tremble at his word,
And this doth joy to me impart,'

To think the Lord has reach'd their heart,
O the praise to God be given,

Peace on earth and crowns in heaven.
5. Why should I regard the frowns [me?
Of those who mock, deride and slight
Soon I'll lie beneath the ground,

Beyond the reach of those who hate me.
Toil and pain and suff rings o'er,
I'll gain the blissful happy shore;
And with the shining host above,
I'll sing and shout redeeming love,
Pleasures there beyond expression,
Ever flow in sweet succession.

PART SECOND.

6. When I hear the pleasing sound
Of weeping mourners just converted,
The dead's alive, the lost is found,
The Lord has heal'd the broken hearted,
When I join to sing his praise,

My heart in holy raptures rise;
I view Immanuel's land afar,.
I shout and wish my spirit there.
Glory, honor, and salvation,
What I feel ist expression.

7. Mourners, see your Saviour stand,
With arms extended to receive you;
See! he spreads his bleeding hands,
Come, venture on him, he'll relieve you,
Cast all your doubts and fears aside,
The door of mercy's open wide,
The fountain flows that saves from sin,
Come, now believe, and enter in;
Don't distrust your blessed Saviour,
Now believe, and live forever.

8. Sinners, you may mock and seorn, Your moments lost will be lamented, That awful day is hastening on,

When you will wish you had repented;
Death, in its embraces cold,
Will soon your mortal bodies hold,
Your pleasures then will take their flight,
And down you'll sink to endless night.
While you're of that guilty number,
Your damnation doth not slumber.,

9. Come, poor sinners, go with me,
My heart's enlarg'd to receive you;
Slight not mercy offer'd free.
Venture on him, he'll relieve you;
But if you offer'd grace refuse,

And still the way of folly choose,
Unhappy souls, your guilt and blood
Will rest on your defenceless heads;
Darkness, torment, pain and sorrow,
May be your's before to-morrow.
HYMN 16. P. M.

While shepherds in Jewry were guarding their sheep,
Promiscuously seated, estranged from sleep,
An angel from heaven presented to view,
And thus he accosted the trembling few:
Dispel all your sorrows, and banish your fears,
For Jesus your Saviour in Jewry appears.
2. When Adam the first in rebellion was found,
Forbidden to tarry on hallowed ground;
Now Adam the second appear to retrieve
The loss you sustain'à by the devil and Eve;
Then shepherds be tranquil, this instant arise,
Go visit the Saviour and see where he lies.
3. A token I leave you whereby you may find
This heavenly stranger, this friend to mankind;
A manger his cradle, a stall his abode.

The oxen are near him beholding your Lord.
Then shepherds be humble, be moek and lie low,
For Jesus your Saviour's abundantly so.

4. This wondrous story scarce blow'd on the ear,
When thousands of angels in glory appear;
They join in the concert, and this was the theme,
All glory to God and good will toward men.
Then shepherds strike in, join your voice to the choir
And catch a few sparks of celestial fire.

5 Hcsannah, the adoring shepherds now cried,
Hosannah, the angele in glory replied;"

Salvation through Jesus to mortals made known,
lu glory to God through the birth of his Son.
Now shepherds adieu, we commend you to God,
Go visit the Son in his humble abode.
