4 Our lives through various scenes are drawn,
And vexed with trifling cares,

While thine eternal thought moves on
Thine undisturbed affairs.

5 Great God! how infinite art thou!
What worthless worms are we!
Let the whole race of creatures bow,
And pay their praise to thee.

The Holy Trinity. 6s & 4s.

Come, thou Almighty King,

Help us thy name to sing,

Help us to praise.

Father all glorious,

O'er all victorious,

Come, and reign over us,
Ancient of days.

2 Jesus our Lord, arise,

Scatter our enemies,
And make them fall.

Let thine Almighty aid
Our sure defence be made;
Our souls on thee be staid;

Lord, hear our call.

3 Come, thou incarnate Word,
Gird on thy mighty sword;
.Our prayer attend.

Come, and thy people bless,
And give thy word success;

Spirit of holiness,

On us descend.

4 Come, Holy Comforter,
Thy sacred witness bear,
In this glad hour.

Thou, who almighty art,
Now rule in every heart,
And ne'er from us depart,
Spirit of power.

5 To the Great One in Three,
The highest praises be,
Hence evermore.

His sovereign majesty,
May we in glory see,
And to eternity,

Love and adore.

The Lord will provide. 10s & 11s.

Though troubles assail and dangers affright;
Though friends should all fail, and foes all unite;
Yet one thing secures us, whatever betide;
The Scripture assures us, the Lord will provide.

2 The birds without barn or store-house, are fed;
From them let us learn to trust for our bread:
His saints what is fitting shall ne'er be denied;
So long as 'tis written, the Lord will provide.

3 We may, like the ships, by tempests be tossed
On perilous deeps, but cannot be lost:
Though Satan enrages the wind and the tide,
The promise engages, the Lord will provide.

4 His call we obey, like Abram of old,

Not knowing our way, but faith makes us bold; For though we are strangers, we have a good guide, And trust in all dangers, the Lord will provide.

5 When Satan appears to stop up our path,
And fills us with fears, we triumph by faith:
He cannot take from us, though oft he has tried,
This heart-cheering promise, the Lord will provide.

6 He tells us we're weak, our hope is in vain:
The good, that we seek, we ne'er shall obtain;
But when such suggestions our spirits have plied,
This answers all questions, the Lord will provide.

7 No strength of our own, or goodness we claim,
Yet since we have known the Saviour's great name,
In this our strong tower for safety we hide:
The Lord is our power, the Lord will provide.

8 When life sinks apace, and death is in view, This word of his grace shall comfort us through: No fearing or doubting, with Christ on our side, We hope to die shouting, the Lord will provide.

Thanks for Divine Care. C. M.

O Thou, my light, my life, my joy,
My glory, and my all;

Unsent by thee, no good can come,
Nor evil can befall.

2 Such are thy schemes of providence,
And methods of thy grace,

That I may safely trust in thee,
Through all the wilderness.

3 'Tis thine outstretched and powerful arm
Upholds me in the way; ́
And thy rich bounty well supplies
The wants of every day.

4 For such compassions, O my God!
Ten thousand thanks are due;
For such compassions, I esteem
Ten thousand thanks too few.

Sovereign Grace. S. M.

Grace! 'tis a charming sound,

Harmonious to mine ear:

Heaven with the echo shall resound,
And all the earth shall hear.

2 Grace first contrived the way
To save rebellious man;

And all the steps that grace display,
Which drew the wondrous plan.

3 Grace first inscribed my name

In God's eternal book;

'Twas grace that gave me to the Lamb, Who all my sorrows took.

4 Grace led my roving feet

To tread the heavenly road;

And new supplies each hour I meet,
While pressing on to God.

5 Grace taught my soul to pray, And made my eyes o'erflow: 'Twas grace that kept me to this day, And will not let me go.

6 Grace all the work shall crown,
Through everlasting days;

It lays in heaven the topmost stone,
And well deserves the praise.

23 God reconciled in Christ. C. M.

Dearest of all the names above,

My Jesus and my God,

Who can resist thy heavenly love,
Or trifle with thy blood?

2 'Tis by the merits of thy death
The Father smiles again;
'Tis by thine interceding breath
The Spirit dwells with men.

3 'Till God in human flesh I see,
My thoughts no comfort find;
The holy, just and sacred Three
Are terrors to my mind.
