thy truth with power. And to all who hear give teachable, devout hearts, so that all thy people may offer to thee acceptable service this day. Revive, O our Father, pure and undefiled religion in this congregation. Arouse the church to a sense of their great obligations to live soberly, righteously and godly, so that others shall take knowledge of them that they have been with Jesus, and thus be won from sin to holiness. May worldliness and coldness and indolence disappear, and may thy people give themselves for a triumphant conflict with sin and ignorance. And may a knowledge of the truth as it is in Jesus be spread abroad in all the churches in all the world. May those who love thee labor to send a knowledge of thee to those who know thee not. May those who now worship idols which their own hands have made, soon be taught to worship thee, the only living and true God. May the time be hastened when thy kingdom shall come and thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, and thy name, O Father, shall have the praise through Jesus Christ evermore. Amen. I EVENING PRAYERS. I. The Sure Defence. The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee. Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion. Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice. Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions. Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed: he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
