When His painful life was ended,
From that fount, His wounded side,
Blood and water straight descended,
Each a sacramental tide;

One to cleanse us,

One to feed our souls, applied.

Jesu! may Thy promised blessing
Comfort to our souls afford;
May we, now Thy love possessing,
And at length our full reward,
Ever praise Thee,

Thee, our ever glorious Lord! Amen.

L. M. When I survey the wondrous Cross On which the Prince of Glory died, My richest gain I count but loss, And pour contempt on all my pride. Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast Save in the death of Christ my God; All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, his hands, his feet, Sorrow and love flow mingled down, Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,

Or thorns compose so rich a crown? Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were a present far too small, Love so amazing, so divine,

Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Hail, Thou once despised Jesus,
Hail, Thou Galilean King,
Thou didst suffer to release us;
Thou didst free salvation bring.
Paschal Lamb, by God appointed,
All our sins on Thee were laid :
By Almighty love anointed,

Thou hast full atonement made.

All Thy people are forgiven,

Through the virtue of Thy blood;
Opened is the gate of heaven:

Peace is made 'twixt man and God.

Worship, honour, power, and blessing,
Thou art worthy to receive,
Loudest praises, without ceasing,
Meet it is for us to give.

'Tis for conquering kings to gain
Glory o'er their myriads slain;
Jesu, Thy more glorious strife
Hath restored a world to life.

Gladly will we for Thy Name
Bear the Cross, endure the shame;
Joyfully for Thee to die,

Is not death, but victory.

Glory to the Heavenly King,

Glory, all ye angels sing,

Glory to the Father, Son,

7s.

And blest Spirit, Three in One. Amen

Thou, God, all glory, honour, power,

Art worthy to receive,

Since all things by Thy power were made,
And by Thy bounty live.

And worthy is the Lamb all power,
Honour and wealth to gain,

Glory and strength; Who for our sins
A sacrifice was slain.

All worthy Thou, Who hast redeemed
And ransomed us to God,

From every nation, every coast,
By Thy most precious blood

Blessing and honour, glory, power,
By all in earth and heaven,
To Him that sits upon the throne,
And to the Lamb be given.

74

C. M.

Come, let us join our cheerful songs,
With angels round the throne,

Ten thousand thousand are their tongues,
But all their joys are one.

"Worthy the Lamb that died," they cry, To be exalted thus ;"

"Worthy the Lamb," our lips reply,

"For He was slain for us.'

Jesus is worthy to receive

Honour and power divine;

And blessings more than we can give
Be, Lord, for ever Thine.

The whole creation join in one,
To bless the sacred name

Of Him that sits upon the throne,
And to adore the Lamb.

75

A royal diadem adorns

The mighty Victor's brow;

C. M.

The head, that once was crowned with thorns, Is crowned with glory now.

To Him the Name o'er every name,
That's known in earth or heaven,
To us the Cross, with all its shame,
With all its grace, is given.

76

Glory, honour, praise and power
Be unto the Lamb for ever;
Jesus Christ is our Redeemer,
Hallelujah, praise the Lord.

148th M.

Rejoice, the Lord is King,
Your Lord and King adore;
Mortals, give thanks and sing,

And triumph evermore:

Lift up your hearts,
Lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again
I say, rejoice.

Jesus, the Saviour, reigns,
The God of truth and love;
When He had purged our stains,
He took His seat above:
Lift up your hearts,
Lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again
I say, rejoice.

His kingdom cannot fail;

He rules o'er earth and heaven;

The keys of death and hell

To Christ, the Lord, are given :

Lift up your hearts,

Lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again

I

say, rejoice.

77

He sits at God's right hand,
Till all His foes submit,
And bow to His command,
And fall beneath His feet.
Lift up your hearts,

Lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again
I say, rejoice.

L. M.

O Christ, Who hast prepared a place
For us around Thy throne of grace,
We pray Thee, lift our hearts above,
And draw them with the cords of love.
