The Enlargement of the Church.

The Lord hath made bare His holy arm, in the eyes of all the nations. And all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. Isaiah lii. 10.

Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Isaiah lxv. 17.

Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord: Shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. It shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues, and they shall see My glory. And I will set a sign among them, and I will set those that escape of them unto the nations; to Tarshish, Pul and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to the isles afar off; that have not heard My fame, neither have seen My glory; and they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles. And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the Lord, out of all nations. And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the Lord. And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me, saith the Lord. Isaiah lxvi. 8, 9, 18-21, 23.

In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it, as in the days of old; that they may possess the remnant of Edom [or, That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, Acts xv. 17], and of all the heathen which are called by My name, saith the Lord that doeth this. Amos ix. II, 12.

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

Dan. ii. 44.

And I saw in the night visions, and behold, one like the Son of man came, with the clouds of heaven; and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. And there was given Him dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all people, nations and languages, should serve Him; and the kingdom and dominion and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High; whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him. Dan. vii. 13, 14, 27.

Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! for lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord. And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be My people. And I will dwell in the midst of thee. And thou shalt know that the Lord of Hosts hath sent Me unto thee. Zech. ii. 10, II.

And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the Lord, and to seek the Lord of Hosts; I will go also. Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of Hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the Lord. Thus saith the Lord of Hosts: In those days it shall come to pass that ten men shall take hold, out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying: We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you. Zech. viii. 21-23.

The Glory of the Church.

And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the Lord. Zech. vi. 15.

And the Lord shall be King over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and His name one. Zech. xiv. 9.

From the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto My name, and a pure offering; for My name shall be great among the heathen, saith the Lord of Hosts. Mal. i. 11.

I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

Matt. viii. II. This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world, for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matt. xxiv. 14. And I, if I be lifted up,-will draw all men unto Me. John xii. 32.

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven saying: The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign for ever and ever. Rev. xi. 15.

II.-The Glory of the Church.

The King's daughter is all glorious within, her clothing is of wrought gold. Psalm xlv. 13.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north; the city of the Great King. Walk about Zion, and go round about her, tell the towers thereof; mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following. Psa. xlviii. 2, 12, 13.

í bring near My righteousness, it shall not be far off, and My salvation shall not tarry; and I will place salvation in Zion, for Israel My glory. Isaiah xlvi. 13.

O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted! Behold I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles; and all thy borders of pleasant Isaiah liv. II, 12.

stones.

Arise, shine! for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee. The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir-tree, the pinetree, and the box together; to beautify the place of My sanctuary, and I will make the place of My feet glorious. Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee; I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations. The sun shall be no more thy light by day, neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee; but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. Thy sun shall no more go down, neither shall thy moon withdraw itself; for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

Isaiah lx. 1, 2, 13, 15, 19, 20.

The Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory. And thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. Isaiah lxii. 2, 3.

Encrease of Light

Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God ! Psalm 1xxxvii. 3.

the

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven, from God, having the glory of God. And her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasperstone, clear as crystal; and I saw no temple therein; for the Lord God Almighty and Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it; for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof; and the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it, and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day, for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.

Rev. xxi. 10, II, 22-26.

III.-Promises of the Increase of Light, and Knowledge, and of the Means of Grace.

The earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Isaiah xi. 9.

And in this mountain shall the Lord of Hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees; of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. And He will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people; and the veil that is spread over all nations. Isaiah xxv. 6, 7.

In that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see, out of obscurity and out of darkness. They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine. Isaiah xxix. 18, 24.
