of Christ. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God. In whom [Christ] ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. Eph. ii. 12, 13, 19, 22. Thou, being a wild olive-tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive-tree. Rom. xi. 17.

V.-Free Access to God, with Acceptance.

Through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Eph. ii. 18.

In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him.

Eph. iii. 12.

To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God and precious: ye also as lively stones are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. I Pet. ii. 4.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest, by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us through the vail, that is to say His flesh. Heb. x. 19, 20. Wherein He hath made us accepted in the Beloved.

In Mine holy mountain-I will there will I require your offerings. you with your sweet savour.

VI.-Of Hearing Prayer.

Eph. i. 6. accept them, and And I will accept Ezek. xx. 40, 41.

Thou shalt make thy prayer unto Him, and He shall hear thee. Job xxii. 27. But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for Himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto Him. Psalm iv. 3.

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his trouble. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry. The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their trouble. Psa. xxxiv. 6, 15, 17.

Call upon Me in the day of trouble, I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me. Psa. 1. 15. O Thou that hearest prayer, unto Thee shall all flesh come. Psa. lxv. 2. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him. Psa. xci. 15.

He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him. He also will hear their cry and will save them.

The Lord is far from the wicked;

the prayer of the righteous.

Psa. cxlv. 19.

but He heareth Prov. xv. 29.

He will be very gracious unto thee, at the voice of thy cry, when He shall hear it He will answer thee. Isa. xxx. 19.

Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer, thou shalt cry, and He shall say, Here I am.

Isa. lviii. 9.

And it shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer, and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. Isa. lxv. 24.

Then shall ye call upon Me, and ye shall go and pray unto Me, and I will hearken unto you.

They shall call upon My name, them: I will say, It is My people; The Lord is my God.

Jer. xxix. 12.

and I will hear and they shall say, Zech. xiii. 9.

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer believing, ye shall receive.

Matt. xxi. 22.

Of Hearing Prayer.

Ask, and it shall be given you seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him! Matt. vii. 7, 8, II.

If ye abide in Me and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you. John xv. 7.

And in that day ye shall ask Me nothing. Verily verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

John xvi. 23, 24. And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in My name, I will do it. John xiv. 13, 14.

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. And if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James v. 15, 16.

And whatsoever we ask we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. I John iii. 22.

And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us; and if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him. If any man see his brother

sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. 1 John v. 14-16.

VII.-Of Sanctifying Grace in general.

The Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psa. lxxxiv. 11.

Sanctify them through Thy truth; Thy Word is truth. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

John xvii. 17, 19..

We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Eph. ii. 10.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

Phil. ii. 13.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Phil. iv. 13. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our God.

sufficiency is of 2 Cor. iii. 5.

We are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. 2 Thess. ii. 13.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly : and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless, unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I Thess. v. 23.

might redeem Himself a Tit. ii. 14.

Who gave Himself for us that He us from all iniquity, and purify unto peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Converting Grace.

This shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, after those days, I will put My law in their inward it in their hearts; and I will be they shall be My people.

saith the Lord; parts, and write their God, and Jer. xxxi. 33.

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. Yet now hath He reconciled, in the body of His flesh, through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproachable in His sight. Col. i. 12, 21.

They shall serve the Lord their God, and David their King, whom I will raise up unto them.

Jer. xxx. 9.

That He would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hands of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him, all the days of our life. Luke i. 74, 75.

And such were some of you; but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Cor. vi. II.

But we all with open face beholding as in a glass, the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor. iii. 18.

VIII.-Particularly of Converting Grace.

And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. Deut. xxx. 6.

Turn Thou me, and I shall be turned, for Thou art the Lord my God.

Jer. xxxi. 18.
