6 Soon shall I pass the gloomy vale,
Soon all my mortal powers must fail;
Oh! may my last expiring breath
His loving kindness sing in death. Medley.

79. Glory of Christ. S. M.

1 My Saviour and my King,
Thy beauties are divine;
Thy lips with blessings overflow,
And ev'ry grace is thine.
2 Now make thy glories known,
Gird on thy dreadful sword,
And ride in majesty, to spread
The conquests of thy word.
3 Strike through thy stubborn foes,
Or melt their hearts to obey;
While justice, meekness, grace, and truth,
Attend thy glorious way. Watts.

80. Lamb of God worshipped, C. M.

1 Come let us join our cheerful songs,
With angels round the throne;
Ten thousand thousand are their tongues,
But all their joys are one.
2 Worthy the Lamb that died, they cry,
To be exalted thus:
Worthy the Lamb, our lips reply,
For he was slain for us.

Your noblest music bring;

'Tis Christ, the everlasting God,
And Christ, the man, we sing.

2 Tell how he took our flesh,
To take away our guilt;

Sing the dear drops of sacred blood

1 Come let us
That hellish monsters spilt.

With angels round

For he was slain for US,

3 Down to the shades of death

He bow’d his awful head;
Yet he arose to live and reign
When death itself is dead.

4. No more the bloody spear,
The cross and nails no more;
For hell itself shakes at his name,

And all the heav'ns adore. Watts.

HOLY SPIRIT.

82. Breathing after the Spirit. C. M.

1 Come, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove,
With all thy quick’ning powers,
Rindle a flame of sacred love
In these cold hearts of ours.

2 Look, how we grovel here below,
Fond of these trifling toys:
Our souls can neither fly nor go,
To reach eternal joys.

3 In vain we tune our formal songs,
In vain we strive to rise;
Hosannas languish on our tongues,
And our devotion dies.

4 Dear Lord! and shall we ever live
At this poor dying rate?
Our love so faint, so cold to thee,
And thine to us so great?

5 Come, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove,
With all thy quick’ning powers;
Come, shed abroad a Saviour's love,
And that shall kindle ours. Watts.

83. Prayer for the Spirit. S. M.

1 Come, Holy Spirit, come,
Let thy bright beams arise;
Dispel the sorrow from our minds,
The darkness from our eyes.

* Convince us of our sin;
Then lead to Jesus' blood ;
And to our wondering view reveal
The secret love of God.

3 Revive our drooping faith;
Our doubts and fears remove;
And kindle in our breasts the flame
Of never dying love.

4 'Tis thine to cleanse the heart,
To sanctify the soul,
To pour fresh life in every part,
And new-create the whole.
5 Dwell, Spirit, in our hearts;
Our minds from bondage free,
Then shall we know, and praise, and loye
The Father, so and Thee, Hart.

S4. Prayer for the Spirit. L. M. 1 Come, gracious Spirit, heavenly Dove, With light and comfort from above, , Be thou our guardian, thou our guide, O'er every thought and step preside. 2 Conduct us safe, conduct us far From every sin and hurtful snare: Lead to thy word, that rules must give, And teach us lessons how to live. 3 The light of truth to us display, And make us know and choose thy way; Plant holy fear in every heart, That we from God may ne'er depart. 4 Lead us to holiness, the road That we must take to dwell with God; Lead us to Christ, the living way, Nor let us from his pastures stray. 5 Lead us to God, our final rest, In his enjoyment to be bless'd; Lead us to heaven, the seat of bliss, Where pleasure in perfection is. Brown.

85. Prayer for the Spirit. 7's.
1 Gracious Spirit, Love divine!
Let thy light within me shine,
All my guilty fears remove,
Fill me full of heaven and love.
