2 Christ our Brother and our Friend,
Shows us his eternal love;

Never shall our triumphs end,

Till we take our seats above.
Let us walk with him in white;
For our bridal day prepare;
For our partnership in light,

For our glorious meeting there.
HYMN 368.

L. 231. One in Christ the Head with the family of heaven.

1

COME, let us

C. M.

OME, let us join our friends above,
Who have obtain❜d the prize,

And, on the eagle wings of love,
To joys celestial rise.

2 Let saints on earth unite to sing,
With those to glory gone;
For all the servants of our King,
In earth and heaven, are one.
3 One family, we dwell in him,-
One church, above, beneath,-
Though now divided by the stream,
The narrow stream of death.

4 One army of the living God,
To his command we bow:

Part of his host have cross'd the flood,
And part are crossing now.

5 How many to their endless home
This solemn moment fly!

And we are to the margin come,
And shortly we must die.

6 His militant, embodied host,
With wishful looks we stand,

And long to see that happy coast --
To reach the heavenly land.

TALK

HYMN 369.

L. 207. Imploring constant fellowship with God. C. M.
ALK with me, Lord,* thyself reveal,
While here o'er earth I rove;
Speak to my heart, and let me feel
The kindling of thy love.

2 With thee conversing I forget
All time, and toil, and care:
Labour is rest, and pain is sweet,
If thou, my God, art here.

3 Here then, my God, vouchsafe to stay,
And bid my heart rejoice;

My bounding heart shall own thy sway,
And echo to thy voice.

4 Thou callest me to seek thy face;-
Thy face I wish to seek;

T'attend the whispers of thy grace,
And hear thee inly speak.

5 Let this my life throughout employ,
Till I thy glory see,-
Enter into my Master's joy,

1

And find my heaven in thee,

HYMN 370.

L. 206. Joy of communion with God. C. M.
Y God, the spring of all my joys,
The life of my delights,

MY

The glory of my brightest days,

And comfort of my nights,

2 In darkest shades, if thou appear,
My dawning is begun;

Thou art my soul's bright morning star,
And thou my rising sun.

3 The opening heavens around me shine
With beams of sacred bliss,

Luke, chap. xxiv. verse 32.

If Jesus shows his mercy mine,
And whispers I am his;-

4 My soul would leave this heavy clay
At that transporting word,
Run up with joy the shining way,
To see and praise my Lord.
5 Fearless of hell and ghastly death,
I'd break through every foe;
The wings of love and arms of faith,
Would bear me conqu'ror through.

HYMN 371..

L. 201. Altered. Rejoicing in communion with Christ as heaven in foretaste. P. M.

1

MY God, I am thine; what a comfort divine,

What a blessing, to know that the Saviour is mine!

In the heavenly Lamb, thrice happy I am,Yea, my heart doth rejoice at the sound of his name.

2 True pleasures abound in the rapturous sound, And whoever hath found it, hath paradise found;

My Redeemer to know, to feel his blood flow, This is life everlasting-'tis heaven below. 3 Yet onward I haste to the heavenly feast; That indeed is the fulness, but this is the taste; And this I shall prove, till with joy I remove To the heaven of heavens in Jesus's love.

HYMN 372.

L. 71, 72. Altered. His pilgrimage sweetened by present and prospective union with Christ. 4 lines 8's, & 2-6's.

1

HOW happy is the pilgrim's lot,

How free from anxious care or thought,
And worldly hope and fear!

Confined to neither court nor cell,
On earth he would not always dwell;
He only sojourns here.

2 This happiness is partly mine,
Already sav'd from low design,
From sinful creature-love;
Aright esteeming finite good,
My soul is lighten'd of its load,
And seeks the things above.
3 There are my house and portion fair,
My treasure and my heart are there,
And my abiding home;
For me my elder brethren stay,
And angels beckon me away,
And Jesus bids me come.

4 I come, thy servant, Lord, replies;
I come to meet thee in the skies,
And claim my heavenly rest!
Soon will the Pilgrim's journey end;
Then, O my Saviour, Brother, Friend,
Receive me to thy breast.

HYMN 373.

S. 111. Altered. Pleasurable confidence inspired by the assurance of unity with Christ. P. M.

BY

Y faith I am united to Christ, the living vine; Though long his grace I slighted, yet now feel him mine.

I

I was to peace a stranger when living in my sin, Nor could I see the danger my soul was always in.

2 When I on Jesus ventured,-believing in his blood,

My heart his Spirit enter'd, and I was born of God;

And still he's my salvation; what can I covet more? [is o'er. I fear no condemnation ;-my Father's wrath 3 By floods and flames surrounded, I now my

way pursue;

Nor shall I be confounded, with glory in my

view:

I taste a heavenly pleasure, and need not fear a frown:

Christ is my joy and treasure, my glory and

my crown.

HYMN 374.

Communion with God sweet everywhere. C. M.
IS sweet to be with God at home,
Amid the social band,

1 'TIS

Where hearts with hearts together knit,
And hands join hand in hand.

2 'Tis sweet to be with God, when far
From home's endearing joys,
Amid the world's applauded din,
And mind-distracting noise.
3 'Tis sweet to be with God alone,
In Nature's deepest shade,
Where every leaf its Maker speaks,
And every rising blade.

4 'Tis sweet to be with God, when toss'd
On ocean's foaming waves,

That, vaunting, hide their slaughter'd dead Within unfathom'd graves.

5 'Tis sweet to be with God within

The closet, off'ring prayer,

Where he delights to meet his friends.
And show his tend'rest care.

6 'Tis sweet to be with God in faith,
Within his temple walls,
