Hymn.

The Lord will provide.”

1 THE saints should never be dismay'd,
Nor sink in hopeless fear;
For when they least expect His aid,
The SAVIOUR will appear.

2 This ABR'AM found: he rais'd the knife; GOD saw, and said,

“Forbear;"

Yon ram shall yield his meaner life;
Behold the victim there!

3 Once David seem'd Saul's certain prey;
But hark! the foe's at hand;
Saul turns his arms another way,
To save th' invaded land.

4 When Jonah sank beneath the wave,
He thought to rise no more;
But GOD prepar'd a fish to save,
And bear him to the shore.

5 Blest proofs of pow'r and grace divine, That meet us in His Word!

May every deep-felt care of mine
Be trusted with the LORD!

6 Wait for His seasonable aid;
And though it tarry, wait:
The promise may be long delay'd,
But cannot come too late.

Hymn.

"As thy Day is, so shall, &c."

1 AFFLICTED saint, to CHRIST draw near,
Thy SAVIOUR's gracious promise hear;
His faithful Word declares to thee,
That as thy day thy strength shall be.

2 Let not thy heart despond and say,
"How shall I stand the trying day?"
He has engag'd, by firm decree,
That as thy day thy strength shall be.

3 Thy faith is weak, thy foes are strong;
And, if the conflict should be long,
The LORD will make the tempter flee:
For as thy day thy strength shall be.

4 Should persecution rage and flame,
Still trust in thy REDEEMER'S Name:
In fiery trials thou shalt see,

That as thy day thy strength shall be.

5 When call'd to bear the pond'rous cross, Or sore afflictions, pain, or loss,

Or deep distress, or poverty,

Still as thy day thy strength shall be.

6 When ghastly death appears in view, CHRIST'S presence shall thy fears subdue: He comes to set thy spirit free;

And as thy day thy strength shall be.

Hymn.

"Jesus hath done all things well."

1 Now, in a song of grateful praise, To GOD the LORD my voice I'll raise; With all His saints I'll join to tell— My JESUS hath done all things well.

2 How sov'reign, wonderful, and free,
Has been His love to sinful me!

This pluck'd me from the jaws of hell:-
My JESUS hath done all things well.

3 I spurn'd His grace, I broke His laws,
And yet He undertook my cause;
To save me though I did rebel:
My JESUS hath done all things well.

:

4 And since my soul has known His love,
What mercies hath He made me prove!
Mercies which do all praise excel':-
My JESUS hath done all things well.

5 Soon shall I pass the vale of death,
And in His arms shall close my breath;
Yet then my happy soul shall tell-
My JESUS hath done all things well.

6 And when to that bright world I rise,
And join the anthems in the skies,
Above the rest this note shall swell-
My JESUS hath done all things well.

Hymn.

Afflictions permitted.

1 NOT from the dust affliction grows,
Nor troubles rise by chance;

Yet we are born to cares and woes,
A sad inheritance!

2 As sparks break out from burning coals,
And still are upwards borne;
So grief is rooted in our souls,
And man grows up to mourn.

3 Yet with my GOD I leave my cause,
And trust His promis'd grace;
He rules me by His well-known laws
Of love and righteousness.

4 Not all the pains that e'er I bore
Shall spoil my future peace;
For death and hell can do no more
Than what my FATHER please.

Hymn.

Christ our Comfort in Distress.

1O THOU, to whose all-searching sight
The darkness shineth as the light;
Search, prove my heart; it pants for Thee:
O burst these bonds, and set it free!

2 Wash out it's stains, refine it's dross,
Nail my affections to the cross;
Hallow each thought; let all within
Be clean, as Thou, my LORD, art clean!

3 When rising floods my soul o'erflow, When sinks my heart in waves of woe; JESUS, Thy timely aid impart,

And raise my head, and cheer my heart.

4 SAVIOUR, where'er Thy steps I see,
Dauntless, untir'd, I follow Thee!
O let Thy hand support me still,
And lead me to Thy holy hill!

5 If rough and thorny be the way,
My strength proportion to my day ;
Till toil, and grief, and pain shall cease,
Where all is calm, and joy, and

Hymn.

"Remember Me."

peace.

1 GREAT Source from whom all blessings flow To Thee for help I flee; In all my complicated woe,

O LORD! remember me.

2 When with a broken, contrite heart,
I lift mine eyes to Thee,

Thy Name proclaim, Thyself impart;
In love remember me.

3 In sore temptation, when no way
To shun the ill I see,

My strength proportion to my day;
For good remember me.
