Preparation for Heaven.
i LOVE divine, all loves excelling !
Joy of heav'n! to earth come down ;
All Thy faithful mercies crown!
Pure, unbounded love Thou art:
Enter ev'ry trembling heart.
2 Come, Almighty to deliver,
Let us all Thy grace receive;
Never more Thy temples leave:
Serve Thee as Thy hosts above;
Glory in Thy perfect love.
3 Finish, then, Thy new creation;
Pure and spotless let us be;
Perfectly restor'd in Thee;
Till in heav'n we take our place;
Lost in wonder, love, and praise !
1 COME, let us use the grace divine,
And all with one accord,
Ourselves to CHRIST the LORD;
2 Give up ourselves, through Jesu's pow'r,
His Name to glorify;
For God to live and die.
3 The cov'nant we this moment make
Be ever kept in mind :
Or cast His words behind.
4 We never will throw off His fear,
Who hears our solemn vow:
Come down, and meet us now!
5 Thee, FATHER, Son, and HOLY GHOST,
Let all our bearts receive! Present with the celestial host,
The peaceful answer give!
6 To each the cov'nant-blood apply,
Which takes our sins away; And register our names on high,
And keep us to that day!
1 LET Him to whom we now belong
His sov'reign right assert,
And ev'ry loving heart.
Who bought us with a price:
To CHRIST alone he dies !
Fulfil our heart's desire,
And in Thy cause expire.
With joy we render Thee
To all eternity.
THOUGH late I all forsake, 1
My all to Thee resign; Gracious REDEEMER, take, O take
And seal me ever Thine.
Nor hence again remove :
With all thy weight of love.
3 My one desire be this,
Thy only love to know,
No other good below.
Thou all-sufficient art;
Enter, and keep my heart.
i Be it my only wisdom here,
With loving gratitude:
And walking in the good.
JESUS, to me be giv'n!
And find my way to heav'n.
Fear and Hope blended. i I WAS a grov'lling creature once,
And basely cleav'd to earth; I wanted spirit to renounce
The clod that gave me birth.
2 But God has breath'd upon a worm,
And sent me, from above,
The wings of joy and love.
And there delighted stand,
The spacious promis'd land.
Has promis'd it to me; The length and breadth of all the plain,
As far as faith can see.
To Thee for help I call;
O save me, lest I fall!
My strength is not my own; Then let me tremble at His Word,
And none shall cast me down.
1 'Tis by the faith of joys to come
We walk through deserts dark as night: Till we arrive at heav'n, our home,
Faith is our guide, and faith our light. 2 The want of sight she well supplies,
She makes the pearly gates appear ; Far into distant worlds she pries,
And brings eternal glories near.
