Hymn.

Church rejoicing.

1 ALL praise to our redeeming LORD,
Who joins us by his grace,
And bids us each to each restor❜d,
Together seek His face.

2 He bids us build each other up;
And gather'd into one,

To our high calling's glorious hope
We hand in hand go on.

3 The gift which he on one bestows,
We all delight to prove;

The grace through ev'ry vessel flows, In purest streams of love.

4 E'en now we think and speak the same,
And cordially agree,
Concentred all through JESU's Name
In perfect harmony.

5 We all partake the joy of one,
The common peace we feel;

A peace to sensual minds unknown,
A joy unspeakable.

6 And if our fellowship below

In JESUS be so sweet,

What height of rapture shall we know, When round His throne we meet!

Hymn.

Church praying for the Weak.

1 AUTHOR of faith, we seek Thy face,
For all who feel Thy work begun :
Confirm and strengthen them in grace,
And bring Thy feeblest children on.

2 Thou seest their wants, Thou know'st their

names;

Be mindful of Thy youngest care;
Be tender of Thy new-born lambs,
And gently in Thy bosom bear.

3 The lion roaring for his prey,

With rav'ning wolves on ev'ry side,
Watch over them to tear and slay,
If found one moment from their Guide.

4 Satan his thousand arts essays,

His agents all their pow'rs employ, To blast the blooming work of grace, The heav'nly offspring to destroy.

5 In safety lead Thy little flock,

From hell, the world, and sin secure; And set their feet upon the rock,

And make in Thee their goings sure.

Hymn.

Church praying for Mourners.

1 O LET the pris'ners' mournful cries,
As incense in Thy sight appear!
Their humble wailings pierce the skies,
If haply they may feel thee near.

2 Show them the blood that bought their peace,
The anchor of their stedfast hope;
And bid their guilty terrors cease,
And bring the ransom'd pris'ners up.
3 Out of the deep regard their cries,
The fallen raise, the mourners cheer;
O SUN of RIGHTEOUSNESS, arise,
And scatter all their doubt and fear!

4 Pity the day of feeble things;

Ŏ gather ev'ry fainting soul!

And drop salvation from Thy wings,
And make the contrite sinner whole.

Hymn.

Church praying for the Flock.

1 JESUS, great Shepherd of Thy sheep,
To Thee for help we fly:
Thy little flock in safety keep!
For, oh! the wolf is nigh!

2 He comes, of hellish malice fall,
To scatter, tear, and slay :
He seizes ev'ry straggling soul,
As his own lawful prey.

3 Us into Thy protection take,
And gather with Thy arm!
Unless the fold we first forsake,
The wolf can never harm.

4 We laugh to scorn his cruel pow'r,
While by our Shepherd's side:
The sheep he never can devour,
Unless he first divide..

5 O do not suffer him to part
The souls that here agree;
But make us of one mind and heart,
And keep us one in Thee!

6 Together let us sweetly live,
Together let us die;

And each a starry crown receive,
And reign above the sky.

Hymn.

Church praying for the Flock.

1 TRY us, O GOD, and search the ground
Of ev'ry sinful heart;
Whate'er of sin in us is found,
O bid it all depart!

2 When to the right or left we stray,
Leave us not comfortless;

But guide our feet into the way
Of everlasting peace.

3 Help us to help each other, LORD;
Each other's cross to bear:
Let each his friendly aid afford,
And feel his brother's care.

4 Help us to build each other up, Our little stock improve;

[ocr errors]

Increase our faith, confirm our hope,
And perfect us in love.

5 Up into Thee, our living Head,
Let us in all things grow,

Till Thou hast made us free indeed,
And spotless here below.

6 Then when the mighty work is wrought,
Receive thy ready Bride;
Give us in heav'n a happy lot
With all the sanctified.

Hymn.

Church praying for the Flock.

1 LET us all join hand in hand,
Who seek redemption in Thy blood;
Fast in one mind and spirit stand,
And build the temple of our God.

2 Giver of peace and unity,

Send down Thy mild, pacific Dove; We all shall then in one agree,

And breathe the spirit of Thy love.
