"THEM WHICH SLEEP IN JESUS WILL GOD BRING WITH HIM."

RIEND after friend departs;
Who hath not lost a friend?

There is no union here of hearts
That finds not here an end;
Were this frail world our final rest,
Living or dying, none were blest.

Beyond the flight of time,-
Beyond the reign of death,-
There surely is some blessed clime
Where life is not a breath;
Nor life's affections, transient fire,

Whose sparks fly upwards and expire.

There is a world above,

Where parting is unknown;
A long eternity of love,

Formed for the good alone;
And faith beholds the dying, here,
Translated to that glorious sphere!

Thus star by star declines,
Till all are past away,

As morning high and higher shines,
To pure and perfect day:

Nor sink those stars in empty night,

But hide themselves in heaven's own light.

REJOICE EVERMORE!"

SONGS of praise the angels sang,
Heaven with hallelujahs rang,
When Jehovah's work begun,
When He spake, and it was done.

Songs of praise awoke the morn,
When the Prince of Peace was born;
Songs of praise arose, when He
Captive led captivity.

Heaven and earth must pass away, Songs of praise shall crown that day: God will make new heavens and earth, Songs of praise shall hail their birth.

And will man alone be dumb,
Till that glorious kingdom come?
No; the Church delights to raise
Psalms and hymns, and songs of praise.

Saints below, with heart and voice, Still in songs of praise rejoice; Learning here, by faith and love, Songs of praise to sing above.

Borne upon the latest breath,
Songs of praise shall conquer death;
Then amidst eternal joy,

Songs of praise their powers employ.
