2. What do you mean by the word

Ghost?

A. Ghoft is the fame with Spirit.

2. Why is he called the Holy Ghost? A. Becaufe of his Office, which is in Chritt's ftead to fanctify, or make holy the Church.

2. How do you prove that our Sanctification proceeds from the Holy Ghost? A. From 1 Cor. vi. I l "But ye are washed, but ye are fanctified, but ye are juftified in the name of the Lord Jefus, and by the fpirit of our God." 2. What do you mean by the Church? A. I mean a Society of Perfons called by God to the Profeffion of true Religion.

2. What does the word Catholick fagnify?

A. It fignifies Univerfal.

2. Why is the Term Catholick applied to the Chriftian Church?

A. To diftinguish it from the Jewish Church, which was confined to one Nation, whereas the Christian Church is extended to all Nations.

2. How is the Church faid to be Holy? A. As it is dedicated to God by Cove nant and Profeffion, and is thereby obliged to be holy.

2. What are the Privileges belonging to the Holy Catholick Church?

A. They are four; it, The Communion of Saints. 2d, The Forgiveness of Sins 3d, The Refurrection of the Body. And 4th, The Life everlasting.

A. The Communion of Saints.

2. How is the word Saints to be understood?

A. It is moft properly to be understood of those, who are the true and living Members of Chrift's Church, namely, fuch as do anfwer the End of their Cal. ling by a lively Faith, and holy Conver fation.

2. In what does this Communion confift?

A. In a Fellowship in all Acts of divine Workip, Piety, and Charity; and in a Partaking of in common the Privileges and Benefits of the Gospel.

2. What are thofe Privileges which Chriftians have thus in common amongst them?

A. They are, their making all but one Body or Church; their being all fanctified by one Spirit; their having all one Hope of their Calling; one Lord, one Faith, one Baptifm, one God and Father of all.

2. How do you prove this Communion of Saints to be the Privilege of the Church?

A. As ii. 42. "They continued fted"faftly in the apoftles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and "in prayers."

A. Forgiveness of Sin.

A. Sin is the Tranfgreffion of the Law of God.

A. Death temporal and eternal.

A. It is God's not exacting the Punishment due to Sin from thofe that have. committed it.

2. On what Terms is Sin forgiven?

A. On Condition of our Faith and Repentance.

2. How is this proved from Scripture ? A. From das xxvi. 18. "That they "may receive forgivenefs of fins, by "faith that is in me.'

Luke xxiv. 47. "That repentance and "remiffion of fins fhould be preached in "his name among all nations.'
