2 Tell me, O Lord, if Thine I am, 3 I feel that I have power with God; 4 Thy heart, I know, Thy tender heart My powerful sighs Thou canst not bear, 5 Give me the grace, the love I claim; He helps my soul's infirmity, 6 Answer, dear Lord, Thy Spirit's groan; (Thy title is with Thee the same;) Tell me Thy nature, and Thy name, And write it on my heart. 7 Prisoner of hope, to Thee I turn, And pray, and weep for Thee; 8 Descend, pass by me, and proclaim, 9 Plenteous He is in truth and grace; He freely doth forgive. 10 Mercy He doth for thousands keep: He goes and seeks the one lost sheep, And brings His wanderer home; And every soul that sheep might be: II Take me into Thy people's rest; My one desire, comply: Make me partaker of my hope; And on Thy bosom die. PART II. I COME, Lord, and help me to rejoice Shall cease from all my sin and strife, And feel the sprinkled blood. 2 I shall not always make my moan, Or worship Thee a God unknown; But I shall live to prove Thy people's rest, Thy saints' delight, The length, and breadth, and depth, and height Of all-redeeming love. 3 I cannot love Thee little, Lord, Love Thee with all my heart. 4 O glorious hope of perfect love! And makes me for some moments feast With Jesu's priests and kings. 5 Rejoicing now in earnest hope, I stand, and from the mountain-top See all the land below; Rivers of milk and honey rise, In endless plenty grow : 6 A land of corn, and wine, and oil, There dwells the Lord our Righteousness, And everlasting rest. 7 O that I might at once go up, This moment end my legal years, Sorrows, and sins, and doubts, and fears, 8 Now, O my Joshua, bring me in, The purchase of Thy death divide; TITUS II. 14. "Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from ALL iniquity." I JESU, Redeemer of mankind, How little art Thou known By sinners of a carnal mind, Who claim Thee for their own; 2 Who blasphemously call Thee Lord, But make Thee, while they slight Thy word, 3 Who madly plead for sin's remains, They fancy Thou hast purged their stains, 4 O wretched man, who dares divide In vain for thee the Saviour died, 5 O wretched man, from guilt to dream He makes it free indeed. 6 The guilt and power, with all thy art, Nor will God bid the guilt depart, 7 Faith, when it comes, breaks every chain, And makes us truly free; But Christ hath died for thee in vain, 8 What is redemption in His blood, But liberty within A liberty to serve my God, And to eschew my sin? 9 What is our calling's glorious hope, But inward holiness? For this to Jesus I look up, I calmly wait for this. 10 I wait till He shall touch me clean, Shall life and power impart, Give me a faith that roots out sin And purifies my heart. |
