The worft of Sinners to receive,
That Mercy they may tafte and live.

4 With Faith I plunge me in this Sea ; Here is my Hope, my Joy, my Reft! Hither, when Hell affails, I flee,

Tho' Joys be wither'd all, and dead,
Tho' ev'ry Comfort be withdrawn ;
Stedfaft on this my Soul relies,

Father, Thy Mercy never dies.

6 Fix'd on this Ground will I remain, Tho' my Heart fail, and Flesh decay ; This Anchor fhall my Soul fuftain,

When Earth's Foundations melt away, Mercy's full Pow'r I then fhall prove,' Lov'd with an everlasting Love.

Dearest Lamb, take Thou my Heart;
Where can fuch Sweetness be,

As I have tafted in Thy Love,

As I have found in Thee?

2 If there's a Fervour in my Soul,
And Fervour fure there is,
Now it shall be at Thy Controul,
And but to ferve Thee rife.

3 If Love, that mildeft Flame, can reft
In Hearts fo hard as mine,

Come, gentle Saviour, to my Breaft,
And all its Love be Thine.

4 My Lord hath feiz'd me with fweet Force His Prize and Purchase juft:

This Soul of mine was never made
For Vanity and Duft..

Now the gay World with theach rous Art
Shall tempt my Heart in vain ;

7 'Tis Heav'n on Earth to tafte His Love,
To feel his quick'ning Grace:
And all the Heav'n I hope above
Is but to fee his Face..

8 Continue ftill Thy Love, my Lamb,
Faft lock me in Thy Wounds;
There let me dwell, where all Thy Love
The raptur'd Soul furrounds.

Friend! be Thou near ;

Thou feeft us here

United in Heart,

O Love, come and blefs us, our Brother

Thou art.

2- Soon make us to be

Conformed to Thee;

"Tis Time, and 'cis right,

To bring forth fome Fruit which may yield Thee Delight.

3 We fain would be clean, Right little and mean:

Come Fire and come Wind,

Confume what or carnal or selfish

4 Thy fi'ry bright Beam

Our Hearts fet on Flame;

And then as they melt,

you find.

Thy Image and Seal be immediately felt. 5 O Bridegroom and Friend,

Who lov'it without End!

Now fend down Thy Fire,

And make all within us ev'n burn with Defire. 6 Thy Spirit divine

Now inwardly fhine;

His Oil on us pour,

And thro' all the Soul his fweet Influence fhow'r.

So very ftill art Thou?

■ Ephefians i, 23,

Of

Of many Troops compos'd,
Who all the World run thro',
With Force of banner`d Hoft:
Should not Trumpet's found
In their Course be found?
2 Methinks I know why not;
For if I look about

Who of these Limbs is Head,
Whofe Gospel this whole Knot
Of Brethren preach and spread;
Small's his Voice and ftill,
Yet performs his Will.

3 When half the World fhall now
At the Lamb's Footftool bow,
When flat the Walls fhall fall
Which ftopp'd our People fo,
'Tis no more Shouts do all,
But the Virtue fure

Of the Lamb's Blood pure.
That filent, (and yet more
'Gainft the Destroyer's Pow'r,
Than any warlike Shout,
Prevailing) Voice of gore
All Ifrael's Tents throughout,
Was, that Blood did fmear
Bath Door where they were.
