“A glance at the numerous interesting subjects illustrated in these . Albanian Researches' will suffice to prove their interest. Much valuable information will be found on classic topography and mediæval history; on the via egnatia, and on the Sclavonic colonization of the Eastern empire which corresponded with the Gothic conquest of the West : on the history of Skanderberg, and on the present political position of the Albanian race, who will probably very soon take a prominent part in the history of the East in opposition to the Hellenic people and the Greek kingdom. A work wbich ought to be found in all those public libraries which profess to pay attention to the departments of classic geography and philology."- Athenæum, April, 1854. 1095 LECCE (F. 1857 Prichard's Eastern Origin of the Celtic Nations appeared, a slender 8vo. in 1831, and has been long out of print, so that copies have sold at more than double the publishing price. Mr. Quaritch desirous of conferring a boon upon Celtic amd philological students, induced the learned Dr. Latham to edit Prichard's work, and to add all the results of recent philological researches. Dr. Latham has done this. Dr. Prichard's text has been reprinted verbatim, Dr. Latham's ample additions being printed in smaller type at the end of each chapter.

Even proprietors of the first edition will do well to purchase Dr. Latham's edition, as this will render the first obsolete.

The critical investigation of the modern Celtic Languages was originated by our countryman, Dr. Prichard, 25 years ago ; his treatise on the subject, WITH THE ADDITION OF A LARGE STORE OF ILLUSTRATIVE NOTES, has recently been republished under the COMPETENT editorship of Dr. LATHAM.—EDINBURGH Review, July, 1858, p. 174.
