My mouth is enlarged over mine enemies because I rejoice in thy salvation.

There is none holy as the LORD, for there is none beside thee: neither is any rock like our God.

Talk no more so exceeding proudly let not arrogancy come out of your mouth :

For the LORD is a God of knowledge : and by him actions are weighed.

The LORD killeth and maketh alive : he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up; The LORD maketh poor and maketh rich : he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust: and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill; To set them among princes: and to make them inherit the throne of glory.

For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's and he hath set the world upon them;

:

He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness: for by strength shall no man prevail.

The LORD shall judge the ends of the earth and he shall give strength unto his King, and exalt the horn of his Anointed.

HYMN XXXVIII.

The Ascension Day.

:

O Christ, our High Priest when thou wouldest ascend on high,

Thou leddest forth thy disciples: thou liftedst up thine hands and thou didst bless them.

And while thou wert blessing them : thou wert taken from them into heaven,

There to appear in the presence of God for us.

Thou that sittest at the right hand of God have mercy upon us ;

:

Thou that sittest at the right hand of God receive our prayer.

:

How long, O Lord Christ wilt thou delay the day of thy coming?

Thou who saidst, Surely I come quickly : Amen, even so come, Lord Jesus.

HYMN XXXIX.

The Sunday after Ascension Day.

Philippians ii. 5—11.

Let this mind be in you: which was also in Christ Jesus;

Who being in the form of God: thought it not robbery to be equal with God.

But made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant;

And was made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man : he humbled himself,

And became subject unto death : even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name;

That at the name of Jesus : every knee should bow,

Of things in heaven and things in earth: and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is LORD: to the glory of God the Father.

HYMN XL.

Whitsunday.

Joel ii. 28-32.

It shall come to pass, saith the Lord : that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh :

And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions;

And also upon the servants and handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood and fire and pillars of smoke.

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.

And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered.

HYMN XLI.

Monday in Whitsun Week.

Ecclesiasticus xliii. 29-33.

The LORD is terrible and very great: and marvellous is his power.

When ye glorify the LORD, exalt him as much as ye can for even yet he will far exceed.

When ye exalt him, put forth all your strength, and be not weary for ye can never go far enough.

Who hath seen him, that he might tell us: and who can magnify him as he is?

There are yet hid greater things than these be for we have seen but a few of his works;

For the LORD hath made all things and to the godly hath he given wisdom.

HYMN XLII.

Tuesday in Whitsun Week.

Ecclesiasticus ii. 1-7.9.

My son, if thou come to serve the LORD: prepare thy soul for temptation;
