HYMN LXXVII.

Saint Barnabas the Apostle.

Holy, heavenly Father: dwelling in light eternal :

Holy Son of God: Redeemer of the world: Holy Spirit of God: Sanctifier and Comforter:

Holy, blessed Godhead: three persons in one God :

Hear thine humble servants: praying in the midst of thy temple.

Hear from heaven, thy dwelling-place : and when Thou hearest, forgive.

Holy heavenly Father: for thy glory we are and were created :

Holy Son of God: Thou didst take our nature upon thee:

Holy Spirit of God: our bodies are thy temples.

Holy blessed Godhead in Thee have we put our trust.

HYMN LXXVIII.

Saint John Baptist's Day.

O LORD, the righteous Judge: Thou who art exalted to be a Prince and a Saviour.

Listen to the voice of thy people who are waiting for the day of thy coming.

LORD, Thou hast the hearts of all men in thine hand the preparation of the heart is thine :

Thou who sentest thy messenger: to prepare thy way before Thee;

Speak unto us, O LORD: by thy ministers whom Thou hast sent:

Make us a people prepared

for Thou

comest at an hour when we think not.

Direct our hearts into the love of God:

and the patient waiting for Thee.

O LORD, the righteous Judge: may we be ready, at thine appearing.

HYMN LXXIX.

Saint Peter's Day.

Thou sittest on the throne of thy Church: Thou art the Bishop of our souls, O Christ : Thou hast the government of the house of thy Father thou hast the key of David.

:

Thou openest, and no man shutteth : Thou shuttest, and no man openeth.

Heaven uplifteth his gates to thy people : the mouth of the pit is shut against them. Thou bringest them forth with a mighty arm Thou tramplest thine enemies under thy feet.

Principalities and powers, mights and dominions, are under thee: Thou settest them to the work of thy will.

Thou compellest their wickedness: to work thy righteousness;

And in their hatred to accomplish: the purposes of thy love.

O let this thy Church be precious in thy sight enlighten it with thy truth continually.

:

Clothe its priests with righteousness and visit its people with salvation.

HYMN LXXX.

Saint James the Apostle.

How beautiful are thy courts: how glorious is the habitation which Thou hast prepared, O Christ.

Blessed are they that dwell there their song of joy goeth up before Thee day by day. And all thine elect shout forth and all the host of thy sanctified crieth out with one voice,

Thou art the Son of the living God: Thou art the rock of our hope, O Christ.

The holy prophets are laid upon Thee: the blessed apostles are built upon Thee.

The faithful confessors rest upon Thee : the lowly martyrs depend upon Thee.

The brotherhood of saints confesseth Thee : the company of priests acknowledgeth Thee. All the built in the Spirit adore Thee: all the redeemed from the pit glorify Thee.

Every lively stone crieth out and the whole temple joineth in one song :

Thou art the precious and living stone: Thou art our head-stone of the corner.

Man did reject Thee: but God did choose

Thee.

Worthy art Thou to be praised : honour and glory be unto Thee.

HYMN LXXXI.

Saint Bartholomew the Apostle.

Ecclesiasticus ii. 10-18.

Look at the generations of old, and see : did ever any trust in the LORD and was confounded?

Or did any abide in his fear and was forsaken : or whom did he ever despise that called upon him?

For the LORD is full of compassion and mercy and saveth in time of affliction.

Woe be to fearful hearts and faint hands: and the sinner that goeth two ways!

Woe unto him that is faint-hearted: for he believeth not, therefore shall he not be defended;

Woe unto you that have lost patience : and what will ye do when the LORD shall visit you?

They that fear the LORD will not dis
