2 He bids us make His glories known, His works of power and grace; And we'll convey His wonders down Through every rising race.
3 Our lips shall tell them to our sons, And they again to theirs ; That generations yet unborn
May teach them to their heirs. 4 Thus they shall learn in God alone Their hope securely stands;
That they may ne'er forget His works, But practise His commands.
906 The household of God.—Eph. ii. 19.
EATH has no bidding to divide
The souls that dwell in Thee:
Yes, all who in the Lord abide Are of one family.
2 They mingle still their songs, their prayers; Thy people, Lord, are one, Thy people in the vale of tears, Thy people near the throne. 3 Midst cherubim and seraphim
They mind their Lord's affairs; O! if we bring our work to Him,
Our work is one with theirs.
4 O! if we love the Lord they love Our hearts to theirs are knit; The home below, the home above, By the same light is lit.
5 Yet here their rapture may not burn, Their peace may not prevail; Thy household here doth sometimes mourn, Doth sometimes faint and fail.
6 O, unmixed sweetness of their song! O, fulness of their love! Lord! hallow us to join ere long Thy family above.
APPY the souls to Jesus joined, And saved by grace alone: Walking in all His ways they find Their heaven on earth begun.
2 The church triumphant in Thy love— Their mighty joys we know: They sing the Lamb in hymns above, And we in hymns below.
3 Thee, in Thy glorious realm they praise, And bow before Thy throne:
We, in the kingdom of Thy grace- The kingdoms are but one.
4 The holy to the holiest leads, From thence our spirits rise; And he that in Thy statutes treads Shall meet Thee in the skies.
908 Ye are come to the Church of the firstborn.
NE is the family of love,
In earth below and heaven above, Part waging battle sharp and sore, And part at rest for evermore.
The church on earth has still to fight Against the devil and his might:
The church in heaven with war has done, Yet these two churches are but one.
2 For they who love their Saviour here, And die in God's true faith and fear, Shall join the glorious church on high, And dwell with Christ eternally; Where shineth everlasting day, And sin and sorrow flee away,
Where no more tears can come, nor pain, And with their God in bliss they reign.
We praise Thee, Lord, for those Thy grace Has brought unto that blessèd place; O, teach us so to live that we
May follow them, as they did Thee. To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, From men and from the heavenly host, Be honour, glory, blessing, praise Henceforth through never-ending days.
Ye are come unto Mount Zion.-Heb.
I OT to the terrors of the Lord,
The tempest, fire, and smoke;
Not to the thunder of that word Which God on Sinai spoke :
2 But we are come to Sion's hill, The city of our God,
Where milder words declare His will, And spread His love abroad.
3 Behold the innumerable host Of angels clothed in light! Behold the spirits of the just, Whose faith is turned to sight
4 Behold the blessed assembly there, Whose names are writ in heaven! And God, the Judge of all, declares Their vilest sins forgiven.
5 The saints on earth, and all the dead, But one communion make; All join in Christ, their living head, And of His grace partake.
6 In such society as this
My weary soul would rest:
The man that dwells where Jesus is Must be for ever blest.
910 The whole family in heaven and earth.
OME, let us join our friends above,
Who have obtained the prize;
And on the eagle-wings of love,
To joys celestial rise.
Let all the saints terrestrial sing, With those to glory gone; For all the servants of our King, On earth and heaven, are one. 2 One family, we dwell in Him; One church, above, beneath; Though now divided by the stream, The narrow stream of death.
One army of the living God,
To His command we bow; Part of His host have crossed the flood, And part are crossing now.
3 Ten thousand to their endless home This solemn moment fly;
And we are to the margin come, And we expect to die.
E'en now by faith we join our hands With those that went before; And greet the blood-besprinkled bands On the eternal shore.
4 Our spirits, too, shall quickly join, Like theirs with glory crowned, And shout to see our Captain's sign, To hear His trumpet sound. Be Thou, O God, our constant guide, And when the word is given,
Then, Lord of hosts, the waves divide, And land us all in heaven.
911 Compassed about with so great a cloud of
witnesses.-Hebrews xii. 1.
HEY are evermore around us, Though unseen to mortal sight, In the golden hour of sunshine, And in sorrows' starless night; Deepening earth's most sacred pleasures With the peace of sin forgiven, Whispering to the lonely mourner Of the painless joys of heaven. 2 Lovingly they come to help us,
When our faith is cold and weak, Guiding us along the pathway To the blessed home we seek ;
