THE intense interest so extensively awakened by the proceedings in the church courts, in the case of the Rev. J. M'Leod Campbell, minister of Row, together with the paramount importance of the case itself, obviously render it most desirable, that the church in general should be put in possession of a faithful record of all these proceedings. The compiler of the following pages, has been induced to undertake this task, in consequence, chiefly, of being in a condition to state with accuracy, the facts in the history of the case previously to its becoming a matter of record; and of being able to add to the series of authentic documents, the substance of notes, taken in short hand, of most of the discussions connected with them, which have taken place in the inferior courts.
