I LORD, I hear of showers of blessings Thou art scattering full and free; Showers, the thirsty land refreshing : Let Thy grace descend on me.

Even me! Even me!

Let Thy grace descend on me.
2 Pass me not! O gracious Father!
Sinful though my heart may be ;
Thou might'st leave me, but the rather
Let Thy mercy light on me.
Even me! &c.

3 Pass me not! O tender Saviour !
Let me love and cling to Thee;
I am longing for Thy favour!
Whilst Thou'rt calling, O call me.
Even me! &c.

I LORD, speak to me, that I may speak
In living echoes of Thy tone;
As Thou hast sought, so let me seek
Thy erring children lost and lone.

2 O lead me, Lord, that I may lead
The wandering and the wavering feet;
O feed me, Lord, that
may feed

Thy hungering ones with manna sweet. 3 O strengthen me, that while I stand

Firm on the Rock, and strong in Thee, I may stretch out a loving hand

To wrestlers with the troubled sea.

4 O teach me, Lord, that I may teach

The precious things Thou dost impart ; And wing my words, that they may reach The hidden depths of many a heart.

5 O give Thine Own sweet rest to me, That I may speak with soothing power A word in season, as from Thee,

To weary ones in needful hour.

6 O fill me with Thy fulness, Lord, Until my very heart o'erflow

In kindling thought and glowing word, Thy love to tell, Thy praise to show.

7 O use me, Lord, use even me,

Just as Thou wilt, and when, and where ;
Until Thy Blessed Face I see,

Thy rest, Thy joy, Thy glory share. Amen.

Or, Hymns Ancient and Modern, 247. Church Hymns, 424.

I LORD, teach us how to pray aright

With reverence and with fear;
Though dust and ashes in Thy sight,
We may, we must draw near.

2 We perish if we cease from prayer ;
O grant us power to pray;
And, when to meet Thee we prepare,
Lord, meet us by the way.

3 God of all grace, we bring to Thee
A broken contrite heart;

Give, what Thine Eye delights to see,
Truth in the inward part;

4 Faith in the only Sacrifice

That can for sin atone;

To cast our hopes, to fix our eyes,
On Christ, on Christ alone;

5 Patience to watch, and wait, and weep,
Though mercy long delay;
Courage our fainting souls to keep,
And trust Thee though Thou slay :

6 Give these, and then Thy will be done;
Thus strengthened with all might,
We through Thy Spirit and Thy Son,
Shall pray, and pray aright.

Amen.
