4 To all thine other favours, add

A heart to trust thy word;

And death itself shall hear us sing,

While resting on the Lord.

125 (1stP.) C.M. Maidstone 196. Sprague 166. My grace is sufficient for thee, 2 Cor. xii. 9.

1 KIND are the words that Jesus speaks
To cheer the drooping saint;

My grace sufficient is for you,
Tho' nature's powers may faint.
2 My grace its glories shall display,
And make your griefs remove;
Your weakness shall the triumphs tell
Of boundless power and love...

3 What tho' my griefs are not remov❜d,
Yet why should I despair?.

While my kind Saviour's arms support,
I can the burden bear.

4 Jesus, my Saviour and my Lord,
'Tis good to trust thy name;
Thy power, thy faithfulness, and love,
Will ever be the same.

5 Weak as I am, yet thro' thy grace
I all things can perform;

And, smiling, triumph in thy name
Amid the raging storm.

The Lord will provide, Gen. xxii. 8.

1 THO' troubles assail, and dangers affright;
Tho' friends should all fail, and foes all unite;
Yet one thing secures us, whatever betide,
The Scripture assures us, The Lord will provide.
2 The birds without barn or storehouse are fed ;
From them let us learn to trust for our bread:
His saints what is fitting shall ne'er be deny'd,
So

3 His call we obey, as Abram of old,

Not knowing our way, but faith makes us bold; For tho' we are strangers we have a good guide, And trust in all dangers, The Lord will provide. 4 When Satan appears to stop up our path, And fill us with fear, we triumph by faith; In this our strong tower for safety we hide, The Lord is our power, The Lord will provide. 5 He says we are weak; our hope is in vain; The good that we seek we ne'er shall obtain; But when such suggestions our spirits have tried, This answers allquestions, The Lord will provide. 6 When life sinks apace, and death is in view, This word of his grace shall comfort us thro'; No fearing or doubting with Christ on our side, We hope to die shouting, The Lord will provide.

My God shall supply all your need, Phil. iv, 19, 20.
1 MY God!-how cheerful is the sound!
How pleasant to repeat !

Well may that heart with pleasure bound,
Where God hath fix'd his seat.

2. What want shall not our God supply
From his redundant stores?
What streams of mercy from on high
An arm almighty pours!

3 From Christ, the ever-living spring,
These ample blessings flow:
Prepare, my lips, his name to sing,
Whose heart has lov'd us so.

4 Now, to our Father and our God,
Be endless glory given,

Thro' all the realms of man's abode,

And thro' the highest heaven. DODDRIDGE.

Fear not; your Father will give you the kingdom, Luke xii. 32,

1 Y

E little flock, whom Jesus feeds,

Dismiss your anxious cares, Look to the shepherd of your souls,

And smile away your fears.

2 Tho' wolves and lions prowl around, His staff is your defence:

'Midst sands and rocks, your Shepherd's voice, Call streams and pastures thence. 3.Your Father will a kingdom give,

And give it with delight;

His feeblest child his love shall call
To triumph in his sight.

For sure supports like these:
And, o'er the pious dead, we sing

We bless the Saviour's name :

Which breaks this mortal frame.] DODDRIDGE.

The Promises animating to Prayer,

Remember me, O my God, for good, Neh. xiii. 31.
I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, Jer. ii. 2.
I do earnestly remember thee still, Jer. xxxi. 20. Į›
O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me,

Thou

Isa. xliv. 21. hou Greatest and Best, O bow down thine ear, Attend my request, and answer my pray'r; Remember me always, my God, for my good, Thou, thou by the needy hast evermore stood. 2 O gracious reply! thou sayest, I will, ' I earnestly do remember thee still;

Thy kindness I saw in the days of thy youth;
Thy love of espousals when walking in truth.

3 Remember I do thy foes and thy fears,

Thy praises and pray'rs, thy joys and thy tears;
Should others forget thee, my signet thou art,
Yea, thou art engrav'd on my hands and my
heart.

4 Then as thou art mine, my care and my boast,
Believing rejoice, and no more distrust;
Rely on my promise, THOU NEVER SHALT BE,
O ISR'EL, MY ISR'EL, FORGOTTEN of me.

CHRIST.

The Divinity of Christ.

1 THEE we adore, Eternal Word,
The Father's equal Son;

By

heaven's obedient hosts ador'd,
Ere time its course begun.

2 The first creation has display'd
Thine energy divine;

For not a single thing was made,
By other hands than thine.

3. But, ransom'd sinners, with delight,
Sublimer facts survey,-

The all-creating Word unites
Himself to dust and clay.

4 See the Redeemer cloth'd in flesh,
And ask the reason Why?
The answer fills my soul afresh,
To suffer, bleed, and die!

5 Creation's author now assumes
A creature's humble form:

A man of grief and woe becomes,
And trod on like a worm.

6 The Lord of Glory bears the shame
To vile transgressors due;
