4. Who held my fleeting Soul in Life,
And turn'd aside the Facal Hour? Who, when I oft gave o'er the Strife,
Preserv'd me from the Adyerse Power, Remov'd the Death I would not shun? Speak, Father; am I not Thy Son ?
5. When twice ten thousand times I fell,
Who was it rais'd the Sinner up,
How came I by this Spark of Hope ?
And bid the dying Sinner live,
O let me all Thy Life receive,
If now I view the Promis'd Land,
Divide the Waves with Thy Right-hand,
Thy Will appoints me to remain,
In Doubt, and Fear, in Grief, and Pain,
9. Alas! I know not how to pray,
But all my Wants are known to Thee,
Then hearken to Thy Spirit's Groan!
10. If now the Bowels of Thy Love ,
Yearn over such a Worm as me, Send down Thy Spirit from above,
And make me clean, and set me free, The Promis'd Comforter send down; Speak, Father; am I not Thy Son ?
11. If now Thou knockest at my Heart,
Now open to Thyself the Door,
The Kingdom to my Soul restore,
12. Haft Thou not made me willing, LORD!
Do I not now my Sins confess? Be just, and faithful to Thy Word,
Cleanfe me from all Unrighteousness, Finish the Work Thou hast begun ;. Speak, Father; am I not Thy Son?
13. Hath not my Saviour died to make
The Child of Wrath a Child of God?
The Soul, for which he shed His Blood ?
14. I cannot rest 'till pure within;
Tho' He hath wash'd away my Stains, Remov'd the Guilt and Power of Sin,
Yet while the Carnal Mind remains, I still must make my ceaseless Moan ; Speak, Father; am I not Thy Son?
15. Or if my endless Groans and Sghs
Thy kind Compassion cannot move,
But hear my Advocate above,
Speak, Father ; iş He not Thy Son!"
And a Man Mall be as an Hiding
Place from the Wind, and a Co-

O Son of Man, I dy :
The Storm of Sin I fee.
2. Welcome as the Water-spring
To a dry, barren Place,
Thy sweet refreshing Grace :
And skreen my naked Head.
3. In the Time of my Diftress
Thou haft my Succour been, In my utter Helplessness
Restraining me from Sin;
O how fwiftly didft Thou move To save me in the Trying Hour ! Still protect me with Thy Love,
And shield me with Thy Power.
4. First, and Laft in me perform
The Work Thou hast begun,
Shelter from the Storm,
And Terror of His Frown,
5. Let Thy Merit as a Cloud
Still interpose between,
Till I am cleans'd from Sin:
The Merit of Thy Death.
6. Never shall I want it less
Thou the Gift haft given,
And seal'd the Heir of Heaven ;
Shall speak me up to Thee.
A Poor SINNER.
Esu, my Strength, my Hope,
On Thee I caft
And know Thou hearst my Prayer.
Give me on Thee to wait..
Till I can all Things do,
Almighty to renew..
2. I rest upon Thy. Word,
The Promise is for Me,
Shall surely come from Thee.
Nor from my Hope remove,
Into Thy perfect Love.
3. I want a sober Mind,
A Self-renouncing Will
The Baits of pleasing III ;
To Hardship, Grief, and Loss,
The Consecrated Cross.
4.. I want a Godly Fear
A quick discerning Eye,
And sees the Tempter fly;
And arm’d with jealous Care,
And watching unto Prayer.
3. I want an Heart to pray,
and never cease, Never to murmer at Thy ftay,
Or wish my Sufferings less.
