fold, may we join with Thee in rejoicing over the finding of the sheep that were lost. Grant this prayer, O Lord, and be with us now and evermore. Amen.

PRAISE. (EXAmple of DavID.)

ALMIGHTY GOD, Who didst call Thy servant David to serve Thee, and to lead the praises of Thy people; tune our hearts for Thy service, and enable us thankfully to tell out Thy praises, and glorify Thee, that lives of praise on earth may be but the beginning of eternal praise in heaven, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE BAPTISM OF CHRIST.

O HOLY SAVIOUR, Who wast baptized of John the Baptist in the river Jordan, because it became Thee to fulfil all righteousness; give us a like spirit of obedience to the will of God, and a readiness at all times to wait upon His ordinances, to the glory of His holy name, to Whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and praise, world without end. Amen.

THE BREAD OF GOD.

O LORD JESUS, the Bread of God, Who hast given Thy flesh for the life of the world; enable us to feed on Thee in our hearts by faith with thanksgiving, to the strengthening of our souls, and the glory of Thy Holy Name, O blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.

'The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,' etc.

MONDAY MORNING.

'Our Father,' etc.

MORNING PRAYER.

O GOD our heavenly Father, Who hast taught us in everything to give thanks; we praise The Holy Name for Thy mercy in bringing us to the beginning of a new day. Refreshed by the rest of Thy Holy Day, and its many means of grace, we are now commencing the duties of the week. Give us grace to discharge them faithfully, with a single eye to Thy glory, and grant that when our work on earth is ended, we may be received into the abiding-places, prepared for them that love Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

SCRIPTURE.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Who hast given us Thy Holy Word for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope; teach us by Thy Holy Spirit as we read that Blessed Word, and grant that we may be doers of Thy Word, and not hearers only, and may bring forth fruit with patience, to the glory of Thy Name, through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

TRUTH.

O THOU God of Truth, Who dost utterly abhor all false ways; fill us with Thy truth, and enable us to walk in Thy light, as followers of Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, for Whose merits we ask an answer to this prayer, and to Whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be honour, glory, and power, now and for evermore. Amen.

AGAINST VANITY.

MOST MERCIFUL GOD, Who knowest that we are encompassed by many temptations to worldliness and sin ; deliver us by Thy power from vanity and vainglory, by which so many souls are led astray from Thy paths, and enable us rather to seek Thy praise, than the praise of men, and to live daily to Thee in singleness of heart, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF THE COUNTRY.

O GOD, Who hast taught us that the powers that be are ordained of Thee; guide and direct, we beseech Thee, those who have the responsible duty of advising our Sovereign in the government of this realm. Give them a right judgment and an enlightened conscience. Enable them to act as Thy servants, and for Thy glory, and grant that order and peace, prosperity and truth may prevail amongst us, to Thy honour and our welfare, for Christ our Saviour's sake. Amen.

FOR FAITH AND HUMILITY.

O LORD JESU CHRIST, Who blessed the faith of a suffering woman when she touched the border of Thy garment, by healing her of her infirmity; give us faith and humility as we approach Thy presence, and heal us by Thy power from our sins, bidding us also to go in peace. Grant this prayer, O blessed Saviour, for Thy Name's sake. Amen.

TUESDAY MORNING.

'Our Father, etc.'

MORNING PRAYER.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Who settest men in families, and hast united us together in one household; be present with us this morning as we draw near unto Thee. We thank Thee for sleep, for health, and all the gifts of Thy love, temporal and spiritual. Bless us, we beseech Thee, as we go forth upon our way, and enable us to carry Thy blessing to others. Make us by Thy grace faithful stewards of the gifts committed to us. and grant that when our Lord shall come again, we may go forth with joy to meet Him, trusting not in our own work, but in His; and to Him, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, now and for evermore. Amen.

FOR THE FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT.

O HEAVENLY FATHER, Who hast promised Thy Holy Spirit to them that ask Thee, grant that we may be so filled with Thy Spirit, that we may bring forth, to Thy glory, the fruits of the Spirit, in love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

OBEDIENCE TO PARENTS.

O LORD JESUS, Who when on earth wert obedient to Thy parents, give grace to the young to follow Thy example in this duty, and grant that, obeying the first command

ment with promise, they may receive the blessing of their Father in Heaven, in a long and happy life on earth, and an eternal inheritance with the saints in light, through Thy merits, O blessed Saviour and Redeemer. Amen.

PATIENCE IN TRIAL.

O GOD, Who rulest all things in heaven and earth; give us patience in all times of adversity and tribulation; and when we cannot see to the end, nor comprehend Thy purpose, enable us to rest in Thy love and wisdom, knowing that Thou doest all things well, and never failest them that put their trust in Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

LIBERALITY.

O MERCIFUL FATHER, Who hast bestowed upon us so many gifts of Thy love, and above all Thine unspeakable gift, even the gift of Thy dear Son; fill our hearts with love and thankfulness to Thee, and enable us to show forth our gratitude by greater liberality, and a more bountiful use of our substance in Thy service; for Jesus Christ's sake, Who loved us and gave Himself for us. Amen.

To CHRIST THe Wonderful. (IS. ix. 6.)

O LORD JESUS CHRIST, Whose name is called Wonderful, God manifest in the flesh; we adore and worship Thee, in Thy Divine strength and goodness. Put forth Thy power, O Lord, that men may own Thy majesty and dominion, to the praise of God, and come again in Thy great glory to reign for evermore, world without end. Amen.
