SATURDAY EVENING.

'Our Father,' etc.

EVENING PRAYER.

O GOD, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who hast in Him given us so many precious promises; we thank Thee for Thy mercy in bringing us to the end of this week, and for having spared us to the eve of Thy Holy Day. May we lay us down to sleep, and take our rest this night, trusting in Thy love and mercy, and awake with thankful hearts to the blessings of Thy Day; and to Thee, with the Son and the Holy Spirit, be all honour and praise, world without end. Amen.

ADOPTION.

O LORD, Who hast taught us that as many as are led by Thy Spirit are Thy children; grant unto us the spirit of adoption, that we from our hearts may cry unto Thee in sincerity and truth, Abba Father,' the Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are Thy children, and heirs according to promise, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THANKSGIVING.

GOD OF ALL GRACE, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift, we desire to praise Thy glorious Name for all Thy mercies to us, Thine unworthy servants. For the gifts of health, both of mind and body, for the daily comforts of life which surround us, but above all, for the gifts of Thy grace in things spiritual, we bless Thy Holy Name.

Accept our praises and thanksgivings for these and all Thy mercies, O Heavenly Father, and give us grace to dedicate our lives to Thy service, through Jesus Christ our Saviour and Redeemer. Amen.

The Name of Jesus.

O LORD JESUS CHRIST, Who art exalted, and given a Name which is above every name, that in the Name of Jesus every knee should bow; give us grace to confess Thy Name at all times, to the glory of the Father, to Whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour, dominion, and praise, now and evermore. Amen.

PEACE.

O THOU PRINCE OF PEACE, at Whose word the angry waters were stilled and hushed into calm; speak peace to us, Thy servants, when in our perplexity and danger we turn to Thee for succour, and at last bring us safely home into Thy presence, to dwell with Thee in everlasting peace, world without end. Amen.

CONCLUDING PRAYER.

O LORD, our Heavenly Father, hearken we beseech Thee, to the prayers we have offered to Thee, in the name of Jesus Christ, and fulfil our desires, so far as they are in accordance with Thy will, for His Name's sake. Amen.

'The peace of God which passeth all understanding,'

Third Week.

SUNDAY EVENING.

'Our Father,' etc.

EVENING PRAYER.

O GOD, we thank and praise Thy Holy Name for this day of rest and worship. Bless it to our souls, and the souls of our brethren. May we gain strength from the means of grace which Thou hast so mercifully provided for us, and go forward in the journey of life, rejoicing in Thy Holy Name, and reminded by this day of the rest that remaineth for the people of God, through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PARDON.

O LORD, Who art a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; pardon our sins and blot out our transgressions, which we humbly acknowledge before Thee this day, and grant unto us the blessedness of those whose iniquity is forgiven, and whose sin is covered, through the precious blood of the Lamb, even Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

PRAISE.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Who hast taught us in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, to make melody unto Thee, giving thanks for all things; accept the praises and thanks

givings that we have offered this day in Thy Name, and kindle in our hearts the spirit of love and worship, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

HOPE.

O LORD GOD OF HOPE, give us faith at all times to be able to lay hold of that hope in Christ which maketh not ashamed, and may we abound therein, through the power of the Holy Ghost, to Whom, with Thee and our Blessed Saviour, be honour and glory, now and for ever.

FOR THOSE IN TRIAL AND DARKNESS.

Amen.

MOST MERCIFUL GOD, Who art the Comforter of the afflicted; be with all Thy servants who are at this time in their hour of darkness and trial, and enable them to trust in Thy Name, and stay themselves upon Thee, O God, till Thou shalt send them help, through Jesus Christ, the Light of the world. Amen.

THE BRAZen Serpent.

O GOD, Who didst in Thy mercy command Moses to lift up the Brazen Serpent in the Wilderness, for the healing of those who were bitten by serpents, and didst thus typify Thy greater mercy in lifting up the Son of Man, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life; grant that Thy Church may so uplift Christ before the world, both by word and life, that many may look unto Him, and be saved, to the glory and praise of Thy Name, through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

'The peace of God which passeth all understanding,' etc.

MONDAY EVENING.

'Our Father,' etc.

EVENING PRAYER.

O LORD GOD, the Guardian of those that trust in Thee, to Whom the night is as clear as the day; watch over us and all dear to us this night. Keep us under the covert of Thy wings. Give us peaceful sleep, and a happy waking on the morrow, and when we fall asleep for the last time, grant us a glorious waking to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

MEEKNESS.

O LORD JESU CHRIST, Who hast blessed the meek, and promised them a heavenly inheritance; grant unto us this spirit, that walking after Thee in all meekness, we may at last attain to Thy heavenly mansions, through Thy merits and atonement, O Blessed Saviour and Redeemer. Amen.

FOR MERCY.

O GOD, Who art gracious and full of compassion; be merciful to us, Thy unworthy servants, who are seeking to follow and serve Thee amidst many discouragements, and many infirmities; and, O Father, Who knowest our frame, and rememberest that we are but dust, help
