There remaineth-a REST to the people of God.
Morning.

GENESIS ii. 1-17; note verses 1-3;
Is. lviii. 13, 14.

O sweetest day of all the seven,
Emblem and earnest of that heaven
Where saints are fully blest:
For thee I'd look, for thee I'd sigh,
I'd count the days till thou art nigh,
Sweet day of sacred rest!

We which have believed do enter into

15, with

Bless'd be the Lord who sent His Son

To take our flesh and blood,
He for our lives gave up His own,

To make our peace with God.
He honoured all His Father's laws,
Which we have disobeyed;
He bore our sins upon the cross,

And our full ransom paid.

God commendeth His love toward us, in that WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US.-ROM. v. 8.

Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away
the sin of the world.

GENESIS iv. 1-15; HEB. xi. 4.

Without shedding of blood is no remission.
Ye are come to the blood of sprinkling
that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

That blood is still our ransom found,
And SPEAKS SALVATION all around!

The PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST!—
I PETER i. 19.

I JOHN iii. 1-16.

And this is His commandment, That we
should BELIEVE ON THE NAME OF HIS SON
JESUS CHRIST, and LOVE ONE ANOTHER, as
He gave us commandment-verse 23.

And if Christ be born within,
Soon that likeness will appear

Which the heart had lost through sin-
God's own image fair and clear,

And the soul, serene and bright,
Mirror back His heavenly light.

Enoch walked with God.
Morning.

GENESIS v. 24; JUDE 14, 15; HEB. xi. 5. Jesus said, If a man love me, he will keep my words; and my Father will love him, and WE WILL COME UNTO HIM, and MAKE OUR ABODE WITH HIM.-JOHN xiv. 23.

Truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.—I JOHN i. 3. Oh, keep my soul, Lord Jesus, abiding still with Thee;

And, if I wander, teach me soon back to Thee to flee,

That all Thy gracious favour may to my soul be known;

And, versed in this Thy goodness-my hopes Thyself shalt crown.

Evening.

REVELATION iii. 14-21; note verse 20.
Behold a stranger at the door,

He gently knocks, has knocked before,
Has waited long, is waiting still,
You treat no other friend so ill.
Admit Him, for the human breast
Ne'er entertained so kind a guest;
No mortal tongue their joys can tell,
With whom He condescends to dwell!

JANUARY 7.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Morning.

GENESIS vi.; HEB. xi. 7.

Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the Lord. -verse 8.

By grace are ye saved.-EPHESIANS ii. 8.
Grace! 'tis a charming sound!
Harmonious to the ear!

Heaven with the echo shall resound,
And all the earth shall hear.

Grace first contrived the way To save rebellious man ; And every step did grace display, Which drew the wondrous plan. Noah prepared an ark to the SAVING of his house. Compare ACTS xvi. 31.

Evening.

I CORINTHIANS XV. I-IO.

By the GRACE of God I am what I am.-verse 10.
Grace turned my wandering feet

To tread the heavenly road;
And new supplies each hour I meet,
While passing on to God.

Grace taught my soul to pray,

And made my eyes o'erflow;

'Twas grace that kept me to this day,
And will not let me go.

The Lord will give grace and glory.— Ps. lxxxiv. II.
