19. Awaked by Sinai's. 1. AWAKED by Sinai's awful sound, My soul in bonds of guilt I found, And knew not where to go; Eternal truth did loud proclaim, "The sinner must be born again, Or sink to endless wo." 2. When to the law I trembling fled, This fearful truth increased my pain, 3. Again did Sinai's thunders roll, 4. The saints 1 heard with rapture tell, How Jesus conquer'd Death and Hell, And broke the fowler's snare; Yet, when I found this truth remain, 5. But while I thus in anguish lay, The sinner, by his justice slain, 20. Though troubles assail. 1. THOUGH troubles assail, and dangers affright, Though friends should all fail, and foes all unite, Yet one thing secures us, whatever betide The scripture assures us, the Lord will provide. 2. The birds without barn or store-house are fed, From them let us learn to trust in our Head; His saints what is fitting shall ne'er be denied, So long as 'tis written the Lord will provide. 3. We may, like the ships, by tempests be tost On perilous deeps, but need not be lost; Though Satan enrages the wind and the tide, The promise engages, the Lord will provide. 4. His call we obey, like Abraham of old; Not knowing our way, but faith makes us bold: For though we are strangers, we have a good guide And trust, in all dangers, the Lord will provide. 5. When Satan appears to stop up the path, And fills us with fears, we'll triumph by faith, He cannot take from us, (though oft he has tried,) The heart-cheering promise, the Lord will provide. 6. No strength of our own, or goodness we claim ; Yet since we have known the Savior's great name, In this our strong tower for safety we hide, The Lord is our power, the Lord will provide. 7. When life sinks apace, and death is in view, This word of his grace shall comfort us through: VIDE." 21. JOY IN HOPE. 1 CHILDREN of the heavenly King, ? We are travelling home to God, 3 Shout, ye little flock, and blest, You near Jesus' throne shall rest; There your seats are now prepared, There your kingdom and reward. 4 Fear not, brethren, joyful stand 5 Lord! submissive make us go, REDEEMING LOVE. 1 Now begin the heavenly theme, 2 Ye, who see the Father's grace, 3 Mourning souls, dry up your tears, Banis! all your guilty fears; 4 Ye, alas! who long have been Willing slaves of death and sin! Now from bliss no longer rove, Stop, and taste redeeming love. |
