Affift me, good Lord, by thy Grace, that I may worship Thee, ferve Thee, and obey Thee as I ought to do. Supply me with all Things needful while I live in this World, and fit and prepare my Soul for the Happiness of the next. Make me to avoid all Occafions of offending Thee; and fuffer me not to be tempted above what I am able; but defend me in all Dangers both of Body and Soul! keep me efpecially from Sin and Wickedness, and from everlasting Death.

I commend to thy divine Providence (my Father and Mother, my Brethren and Sifters) and all my Friends and Relations; vouchsafe them all thofe Graces and Bleffings thou knoweft most suitable for them.

O Thou that never flumbereft nor fleepest, watch over me this Night, and refresh me, with seasonable Reft, that I may rise the next Morning more fit for thy Service.

I return, O Lord, to Thee all Praise and Thanksgiving, for all thofe Mercies Thou haft this Day bestowed upon me. As long as I live I will praise the Lord; as long as I have any Being, I will magnify thy holy Name. Hear my Prayers and accept of my Praises, for the Sake of my Saviour Jefus Chrift; in whofe holy Words I fum up all my Wants,

Our Father, &c.

THE Grace of our Lord Jefus Chrift, &c. Amen.

A Morning Prayer for a Perfon in private.

ALMIGHTY and eternal God, who hast created me after thine own Image and Likenefs; who haft made me capable of loving Thee and enjoying Thee eternally; I adore Thee with all Humility as my Sovereign Lord; give me, I befeech Thee, fuch a Senfe of thy infinite Goodness, as to return unto Thee all poffible Love and Obedience.

O my God, upon whom all Things depend, I acknowledge that I have nothing but what is the Effect of thy Bounty: blefs the Lord, O my Soul, and declare his Lovingkindness to all Generations. I humbly and heartily thank Thee for all the Graces and Favours thou haft beftowed upon me; for making me a rational Creature, and for fecuring my Prefervation by the conftant Effects of thy Providence; for redeeming me by the Death of thy Son, and for providing the Grace of thy Holy Spirit to fanctify my corrupt Nature; for bringing me to the Knowledge of the Chriftian Religion; for bleffing me with plentiful Means of Salvation; and for preparing a glorious Inheritance for thofe that love Thee, and keep thy Commandments; for the many Temporal Bleffings Thou haft conferred upon me; for repairing the Infirmities of my frail Body with comfortable

comfortable Reft and Sleep; for the Prefervation of me this Night, and the reft of my Life, and from innumerable Accidents and Dangers; O! may I always delight to praise and glorify thy holy Name, and above all thy Benefits to love Thee, my great Benefactor.

O Father of Mercies, fhut not up thy Bowels of Compaffion towards me, a vile and miferable Sinner; defpife not the Work of thine own Hands, the Purchase of my Saviour's Blood. I moft humbly implore the Pardon and Forgiveness of all my Sins, whether of Omiffion or Commiffion, for the Sake of Jefus Chrift thy only Son our Lord; I am heartily forry that I have offended Thee; I deteft my Sins becaufe they are difpleafing to Thee, who art infinite Goodness: I am refolved, by the Affiftance of thy Grace, to return no more to Folly, to avoid all Occafions of Evil, and to live better for the Time

to come.

I dedicate to Thee, O Lord, my Body and Soul, and all that I am; and becaufe through the Weakness of my mortal Nature, I can do no good Thing without Thee, grant that all I fhall do or fuffer this Day, by the Help of thy Grace, may tend to thy Glory, and the Salvation of my own Soul.

Care

Care and Diligence. Make me sensible of my own Vilenefs and Corruption, and let me never want thy gracious Affistance to correct and reform it. Let me frame a right Judgement concerning the Vanity and Emptinefs of all tranfitory Enjoyments, that they may never prevail upon me to tranfgrefs thy holy Laws; but that by the Contempt of them, I may fix my Heart upon those Pleafures which are at thy right Hand for evermore. And grant that all the Afflictions of this Life, which Thou in thy wife Providence fhalt think fit to lay upon me, may turn to my spiritual Profit and Advantage; that I may bear them with Patience and Submiffion to thy holy Will, and thereby learn greater Gratitude to thy Goodness for the Mercies I enjoy. Let no anxious or folicitous Cares ever disorder or diftract my Mind, but let me truft in thy Providence to bless my honest Diligence being affured, that if I feek first the Kingdom of God, and its Righteousness, all other Things fhall be added unto me.

Defend me by thy Almighty Power from all thofe Snares and Temptations which continually folicit me to offend Thee; and from all those bodily Dangers to which I am fubject in this my Pilgrimage here upon Earth; that all my Thoughts, Words and Actions, may be fo guided by thy Holy Spirit, that I may ever feek thy Honour and Glory; and that the main Concern of my Life may be, to fit
