{

Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,

And rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, And his circuit unto the ends of it:

{

And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:

The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart:

The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever:

The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: Sweeter also than honey, and the honeycomb.

11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

12

Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have do minion over me:

Then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight,

O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

3 Remember all thy offerings,

And accept thy burnt sacrifice;

4 Grant thee according to thine own heart,

And fulfil all thy counsel.

5 We will rejoice in thy salvation,

And in the name of our God we will set up our banners:
The LORD fulfil all thy petitions.

6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed;

He will hear him from his holy heaven

With the saving strength of his right hand.

7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses:

But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

8 They are brought down and fallen:

But we are risen, and stand upright.

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness, for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine eneinies. Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life' And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

PSALM XXIV.

THE earth is the LORD's and the fulness thereof;

The world, and they that dwell therein.

2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the floods.

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD?

And who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;
Who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity,
Nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD,

And righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of them that seek him, That seek thy face, O Jacob.

7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates;

{

And be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors;
And the King of glory shall come in.

8 Who is this King of glory?

The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors. And the King of glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of glory?

The LORD of hosts, Ile is the King of glory.

PSALM XXVII.

THE LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

THE

The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up They stumbled and fell.

3 Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after;

[my flesh

{That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,

To behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion:

In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me;

He shall set me up upon a rock.

And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy;

I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice:

Ilave mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face;

My heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek

LESSON 2.

PSALM IV.

H

TEAR me when I call, O God of my righteousness:
Thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress;

Have mercy upon me and hear my prayer.

2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? How long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing?

3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself⚫ The LORD will hear when I call unto him.

4 Stand in awe, and sin not:

Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.

5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,

And put your trust in the Lord.

6 There may be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart,

More than in the time that their corn and their wine increased

8 I will both lay me down in peace and sleep:

For thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

[blocks in formation]

3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD;

In the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness:

Neither shall evil dwell with thee.

5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight:

Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing:

The LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.

7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy

And in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

8 Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness, because of mine enemies;

Make thy way straight before my face.

9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness Their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. 10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels;

Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they hav rebelled against thee.

11 S But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice:

Let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them:

Let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous;

With favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

LESSON 3

[blocks in formation]

Who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength,

{

[ocr errors]

Because of thine enemies,

That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

& When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him?

And the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, And hast crowned him with glory and honour.

6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet:

7 A sheep and oxen,

Yea, and the beasts of the field;

8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea,

And whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

9 O LORD, our LORD,

How excellent is thy name in all the earth!

PSALM IX.

WILL praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart;
I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
