“Sing ye praises with understanding.”—Ps. xlvii. 7.
FOR THE LORD'S DAY.
Morning Hymn. . L. M. 1 AWAKE, my soul, and with the sun
Thy daily stage of duty run ;
To pay thy morning sacrifice.
And with the angels bear thy part;
High glory to the eternal King.
And hast refresh'd me while I slept; Grant, Lord, when I from death shallwake,
I may of endless life partake.
Scatter my sins as morning dew;
5 Direct, control, suggest this day,
All I design, or do, or say;
In thy sole glory may unite. 6 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
2. For the Morning of the Sabbath. (4. 8 & 2. 6.)
Eternal God and King; .
And heart-felt tributes bring.
It may our hearts explore; Attended by thy powerful grace, Let it each guilty spot erase,
And may we sin no more. 3 Then shall we hope, when Thou dost come To fix our everlasting doom,
To hear these joyful words,
Jehovah, Lord of lords.'
1 O Come, let us, with one accord,
Lift up our voice and praise the Lord;
2 Let universal nature raise
A cheerful voice to give Him praise ;
The earth's foundation also laid;
Which through all ages firmly stand. 4 Wherefore let heaven and earth agree
To sing His praise in unity ;
4. For God's blessing on the means of grace. (6. 8.) 1 GREAT God! this sacred day of thine
Demands the soul's collected powers; Gladly may we to Thee resign
These solemn consecrated hours ;
