V.

1. A glory gilds the sacred page,
Majestic, like the Sun;

It gives a light to every age,
It gives, but borrows none.

2. The LORD who gave it, still supplies
The gracious light and heat;
His truths upon the nations rise,
They rise, but never set.

3. Let everlasting thanks be thine,
For such a bright display;
As makes a world of darkness shine,
With beams of heavenly day.

4. My soul rejoices to pursue,
The steps of him I love,

Till glory break upon my view,
In brighter worlds above.

VI.

1. Come HOLY GHOST, our hearts inspire; Thou fount of life and love,

Source of the ancient Prophets' fire,

Let us thine influence prove.

2. Come HOLY GHOST, for mov'd by thee,

The great Apostles spoke; Unlock the truth, thyself the key, Unseal the sacred book.

3. Expand thy wings; prolific dove,
And brood o'er nature's night;
On our disorder'd spirits move,
And let there now be light.

VII.

1. To thy temple I repair,
Lord, I love to worship there;
Holy FATHER, give me grace,
In thy courts to seek thy face.

2. While thy glorious praise is sung,
Touch my lips, unloose my tongue;
Then my joyful soul shall bless,
Thee the LORD, my RIGHTEOUSNESS.

3. While the prayers of all ascend,
God of love, to mine attend;
Hear me, for thy SPIRIT pleads,
Hear, for JESUS intercedes.

4. While thy word is read, with awe May I tremble at thy law;

Till the Gospel bring to me,
Life and Immortality.

5. While thy ministers proclaim
Peace and Pardon, in thy name;
Thro' their voice, by Faith, may I
Hear thee speaking from the sky.

VIII.

1. COME, ye that serve the Lord,
And let your joys be known;
Join in a song of sweet accord,
As ye surround the throne.

2. The sqrrows of the mind,

Be banished from this place, Religion never was designed To make our pleasures less.

4. The hill of Zion yields

A thousand sacred sweets, Before we reach the heavenly fields, Or walk the golden streets.

4. Then let our songs ascend,

And every tear be dry; Immanuel's arm our steps will tend, To fairer worlds on high.

IX.

1. Before JEHOVAH's awful throne
Ye nations bow with sacred joy;
Know that the Lord is God alone,
He can create, and he destroy.

2. His sovereign power, without our aid, Made us of clay, and form'd us men; And when like wandering sheep we stray'd He brought us to his fold again.

3. We'll crowd thy gates with thankful songs, High as the heavens our voices raise ; And earth, with her ten thousand tongues, Shall fill thy courts with sounding praise.

4. Wide as the world, is thy command; Vast as eternity, thy love;

Firm as a rock, thy truth will stand,

When rolling years shall cease to move.

X.

Gen. 28.-20-22.

1. O God of Jacob, by whose hand
Thy servants still are fed;
Who thro' this weary pilgrimage
Hast all our fathers led.

2. Our vows, our prayers, we now present Before thy throne of grace;

God of our Fathers, be the God,
Of their succeeding race.

3. Thro' each perplexing path of life,
Our wandering footsteps guide;
Give us, each day, our daily bread,
And raiment fit provide.

4. O spread thy covering wings around,
Till all our wanderings cease;
And at our Father's lov'd abode,

Our souls arrive in peace.

5. Such blessings from thy gracious hand,

On us thy servants pour;

And thou shalt be thy servants' God
And portion evermore.
