The city of our GoD; Where milder words declare His will, And spread His love abroad.

Behold th' innumerable hoft

Of angels cloath'd in light! Behold the fpirits of the juft, Whofe faith is turn'd to fight! 4 Behold the bleft affembly there,

Whofe names are writ in heav'n ; And Gop, the judge of all declares Their vileft fins forgiv'n!

All join in CHRIST, their living head, And of His grace partake.

4. Ye, alas! who long have been
Willing flaves of death and fin
Now from blifs no longer rove,
Stop and tafte redeeming love!
5. Welcome all by fin opprefs'd,
Welcome to his facred reft;
Nothing brought Him from above,
Nothing but redeeming love!
6. He fubdu'd th' infernal pow'rs,
His tremendous foes and ours;
From their curfed empire drove,
Mighty in redeeming love.

7. Hither then your Mufic bring,
Strike aloud each joyful ftring;
Mortals join the hofts above,
Join to praise redeeming love.

By His laft groans, his dying blood,
I charge my foul to love the faints

2. Clamour, and wrath, and war, be gone; Envy and fpite for ever cease;

Let bitter words no more be known Amongst the faints the fons of peace. 3. The fpirit, like a peaceful dove,

Flies from the realms of noife and strife; Why should we vex and grieve His love, Who feals our fouls to heav'nly life? 4. Tender and kind be all our thoughts, Thro' all our lives let mercy run; So GOD forgives our num'rous faults, For the dear fake of CHRIST his fon.

Why fhould we grovel here on earth?
Why grafp at tranfitory toys,

So near to heav'n's eternal joys?
Shall ought beguile us on the road,
When we are walking back to GOD?
For frangers into life we come,
And dying is but going home!
4. Welcome fweet hour of full discharge,
That fets our longing fouls at large;
Unbinds our chains, breaks up our cell,
And gives us with our GoD to dwell!

Thro' Gentile darkness spreads :
Pours glory round thy chofen race,
And bleflings on their heads.

YOW fhall my inward joys arife,
And burst into a fong,
Almighty love inspires my heart,
And pleasure tunes my tongue.

Some mercy-drops has throw■;

And folemn oaths have bound His love

To fhow'r falvation down.

And all His boundless love proclaim!

The brighteft image of His grace!
GOD, in the perfon of his Son,
Has all His mightiest works out-done.

And nothing great or good can fee
Or glorious in our death.

For He, whofe blood is all our boast,

In JEsu's love we know ;
