I am the good Shepherd.

ESUS, the Shepherd of the sheep,

JES

Thy little flock in safety keep,

L.M.

The flock for which Thou camest from heaven, The flock for which Thy life was given.

Thou sawest them wandering far from Thee,
Secure, as if from danger free;

Thy love did all their wanderings trace,
And bring them to a wealthy place.

O guard Thy sheep from beasts of prey,
And guide them, that they never stray.
Cherish the young, sustain the old;
Let none be feeble in Thy fold.

Secure them from the scorching beam,
And lead them to the living stream;
In verdant pastures let them lie,
And watch them with a Shepherd's eye.

O may Thy sheep discern Thy voice,
And in its sacred sound rejoice.
From strangers may they ever flee,
And know no other guide but Thee.

Lord, bring Thy sheep that wander yet,
And let the number be complete.
Then let Thy flock from earth remove,
And occupy the fold above.

108 This God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide unto death.

LEAD us, Heavenly Father, lead us

O'er the world's tempestuous sea;

Guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
For we have no help but Thee;
Yet possessing

Every blessing,

If our God our Father be.

Saviour, breathe forgiveness o'er us;

All our weakness Thou dost know;
Thou didst tread this earth before us;
Thou didst feel its keenest woe;
Lone and dreary,

Faint and weary,
Through the desert Thou didst go.

Spirit of our God descending,

Fill our hearts with heavenly joy,
Love with every passion blending,
Pleasure that can never cloy;
Then provided,

Pardoned, guided,

Nothing can our peace destroy.

Psalm cxxxvi.

ET us, with a gladsome mind,

[ocr errors]

Praise the Lord, for He is kind:

For His mercies shall endure,

Ever faithful, ever sure.

He, with all-commanding might,
Filled the new-made world with light:
For His mercies shall endure,

Ever faithful, ever sure.

All things living He doth feed,
His full hand supplies their need:
For His mercies shall endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure.

He His chosen race did bless,
In the wasteful wilderness :
For His mercies shall endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure.

He hath with a piteous eye
Looked upon our misery:
For His mercies shall endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure.

Let us then with gladsome mind,
Praise the Lord, for He is kind:
For His mercies shall endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure.

7's.

110 And He lifted up His hand and blessed

them.

ORD, dismiss us with Thy blessing,
Fill our hearts with joy and peace;

Let us each, Thy love possessing,
Triumph in redeeming grace;
O refresh us,

Travelling through this wilderness.
Thanks we give and adoration,
For Thy Gospel's joyful sound;
May the fruits of Thy salvation
In our hearts and lives abound;
May Thy presence

With us evermore be found.

So, whene'er the signal given
Calls us from this earth away,
Borne on angels' wings to heaven,
Glad the summons to obey,
May we ever

Reign with Christ in endless day.

L

Psalm lxxxiv.

ORD of the worlds above,

How pleasant, and how fair,

The dwellings of Thy love,

Thy earthly temples are :

To Thine abode

My heart aspires,
With warm desires
To see my God.

8-7-4.

148,

O happy souls that pray
Where God appoints to hear!
O happy men that pay

Their constant service there!
They praise Thee still;
And happy they,

That love the way
To Zion's hill.

They go from strength to strength,
Through this dark vale of tears,
Till each in heaven at length
Before the throne appears.
O glorious seat

Of God our King!
Lord, thither bring
Our willing feet.

112 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all.

MAY

AY the grace of Christ our Saviour,
And the Father's boundless love,

With the Holy Spirit's favour,

Rest upon us from above.

Thus may we abide in union

With each other, and the Lord; And possess, in sweet communion, Joys which earth cannot afford.

8-7.
