THIS is the Day of Light,
When first the silv'ry Dawn
Awakening pure and bright,
O'erspread Creation's Morn.

This is the Day of Peace,
When o'er our cruel foes,
The Lord our Righteousness
From Death, triumphant rose.

This is the Day of Grace,

When, with His Church to dwell,

His constant resting place,

The Dove-like Spirit fell.

This is the Day of Love,

When one in heart and mind The Church on Earth, above Their sweet Communion find.

Teach us, O Lord, to prize

The means thy Grace has given;
The Food Thy Love supplies
For Souls new-born for Heaven.

Grant us to see the Lord,
In breaking of the Bread,
To hear Him in His Word,
To follow in His tread.

Be Thou our Theme in Praise

Be Thou our Want in Prayer

So shall each Day of Days

Our souls for Heaven prepare.-Amen.

JESUS, whene'er Thy people meet,
And kneel before thy Mercy-seat,
To all who seek Thee, Thou art found,
And still Thy Church is hallow'd ground.
Dear Shepherd of Thy chosen flock,
Our Hope, our Fortress, and our Rock,
Here to our waiting hearts proclaim
The sweetness of Thy saving Name.
Here may we prove the power
of Prayer
To strengthen faith, to sweeten care;
Here may our praise with fervour rise,
Till Heaven is brought before our eyes !
Lord! may Thine Earthly Courts prepare
Our Souls Thy endless Praise to share;
O rend the Heavens, come quickly down,
And make our wayward hearts Thine own!—
Amen.

We love the place, O God,

Wherein Thine honour dwells;

The joy of Thine abode

All earthly joy excels.

It is the House of Prayer,

Wherein Thy servants meet;
And Thou, O Lord, art there,
Thy chosen flock to greet.
We love the sacred Font;
For there the Holy Dove

To pour is ever wont

His blessing from above.

We love Thine Altar, Lord;
Oh! what on Earth so dear?
For there, in faith adored,
We find Thy Presence near.
We Love the Word of Life,
The Word that tells of peace,
Of comfort in the strife,
And joys that never cease.
We love to sing below

For mercies freely given;
But oh! we long to know
The triumph-song of Heaven.

Lord Jesus, give us grace

On Earth to love Thee more,

In Heaven to see Thy Face,

And with Thy saints adore.—Amen.

THAT Holy Rite, that Solemn Vow,
May we its sacred influence know,

Born from above, and kept and blest;
So pass'd God's Israel through the flood;
So guided by the shadowing Cloud,

They gain'd the promis'd Canaan's rest.

Baptiz'd into the Saviour's death,
O may we die to all beneath,

And live henceforth to Him alone;
Serve Him with zeal and patience here,
And wait till He, our Life appear,

And raise us to a glorious Throne.—Amen.

MEMBERS of Christ are we ;
He is our living Head;
That henceforth we should ever be
By His good Spirit led.
Children of God are we;

Such grace to us is given

To kneel and pray in Christ's own words "Father, which art in Heaven."

Inheritors are we

Of Heaven's high Kingdom blest : O let us tremble lest we fail

To reach the holy Rest!

Upon our brows we bear
Christ's holy suffering Sign;
That on each saintly forehead there
A glorious Crown may shine.

To walk in sin and shame
Shall be far from us now:

We know Whose holy Name we claim,

Whose Seal is on our brow.

11

BREAD of Heaven! on Thee we feed,
For Thy Flesh is Meat indeed;

Ever let our souls be fed

With this true and living Bread!

Vine of Heaven! Thy Blood supplies
This blest cup of Sacrifice;

Lord! Thy wounds our healing give;
To Thy Cross we look and live.

Day by day, with strength supplied
Through the life of Him Who died,
Lord of Life! O let us be
Rooted, grafted, built on Thee!

Honour, glory, love and praise
Be through never-ending days
To the Father, and the Son,

And the Spirit; Three in One.-Amen.

FORTH from the dark and stormy sky,
Lord, to Thine Altar's shade we fly;
Forth from the world, its hope and fear,
Saviour, we seek thy shelter here;
Weary and weak, Thy grace we pray:
Turn not, O Lord! Thy guests away!
Long have we roamed in want and pain,
Long have we sought Thy rest in vain ;
Wilder'd in doubt, in darkness lost,
Long have our souls been tempest-tost:
Low at Thy feet, our sins we lay;

Turn not, O Lord! Thy guests away!-Amen. 13

LORD, when before Thy throne we meet,
Thy goodness to adore,

From Heaven th' eternal mercy-seat

On us Thy blessing pour,

And make our inmost souls to be

An habitation meet for Thee!

The Body for our ransom given:
The Blood in mercy shed;

With this immortal Food from Heaven,
