Said the Creator Lord; Rose at his soy'reign Word. Confused, and drown'd the land; Attends on his command. The clouds ascend and bear And float on softer air. Was gath'red by his hand ; And leave the solid land. The naked globe he crown'd, 2 Deep in unfathomable mines, Of never failing skill, And works his sov'reign will. The clouds ye so much dread In blessings on your head. But trust him for his grace ; He hides a smiling face. Unfolding every hour; But sweet will be the flower. And scan his work in vain; And he will make it plain. God, 235. The goodness of God. With songs of sacred praise ; And kind are all his ways. In him we live and move ; The wonders of his love. To ransom rebel worms; In its diviner forms. 'Tis here our hope relies; A safe defence, a peaceful home, When storms of trouble rise. 5 Thine eye beholds, with kind regard, The souls who trust in thee; With bliss divinely free. Mercy, Up to the courts above, 2 Once 'twas a seat of dreadful wrath, And shot devouring flame; And vengeance was his name. That calm'd his frowning facet; And turn'd the wrath to grace. And venture near the Lord; Nor double flaming sword. Are opend by the Son; And reach th’ Almighty's throne. Great Advocate on high; Who lays his anger by. The condescending love of God. I sit upon my holy throne; Dwell in my own eternity. On earth I have a mansion too ; Is an abode of my delight. I bid the mourning sinner live; And ease the sorrows of the mind. I make them know how vile they've been ; Their souls would sink beneath my stroke. + V. 3. The Faithfulness of God. And speak some boundless thing; Of our eternal King And sound his power abroad; And the performing God. For wretched dying men; With an immortal pen.
