Soc. 1848 Mr. Thomas was for several years "The British Resident" at Delhi, and had there peculiar advantages in collecting and describing the Coins of the Mohammedan Rulers of India. His works are of the greatest historical value. For Mr. Thomas's edition of "PRINSEP's Indian Antiquities" see ante, Class "Oriental Books." The great merits of Thomas's literary labours are pointed out in a Review [attributed to Professor MAX. MÜLLER] of that work in "The GUARDIAN, Oct. 20. 1858." The reviewer concludes by saying, "We hope that Mr. Thomas may continue his researches in the same spirit, and that, with the materials which he has collected, he will soon give us "Thomas's Indian Antiquities."
