2 'Twas grace that taught my foul to fear; 'Twas grace my fears reliev'd: How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believ'd!

3 Through many dangers, toils, and fnares, I have already come:

'Tis grace has brought me fafe thus far; And grace will bring me home.

4 Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life fhall cease,
I fhall poffefs, within the vail,
A life of joy and peace.

50.

I NOTHING can preferve my going

But falvation full and free;

Nothing can my foul difhearten
But my abfence, Lord, from thee:
Nothing can delay my progrefs,
Nothing can difturb my reft,
If I can, whate'er the danger,
Lean my spirit on thy breaft.
2 In thy prefence I am happy,
In thy prefence I'm fecure;
In thy prefence all afflictions
I can eafily endure:

In thy prefence I can conquer,

I can fuffer, I can die:

Far from thee I faint and languish;
O, my Saviour, keep me nigh!

51.

ALTHOUGH the Lord may hide his face,

His covenant is fure;

His love and mercy, truth and grace,
For ever muft endure.

2 Beneath his fimiles my foul has liv'd,
And part of heav'n poffeft;

I'll praife him for the grace receiv'd,
And truft him for the reft.

BLOOD has a voice to pierce the skies: "Revenge!" the blood of Abel cries;

The ftreams which flow'd from Jefu's wounds
Speak life and peace to all around.

2 To him, then, let our praises rife,
Who gave himself a facrifice;
And now, before the throne of God,
He pleads the merit of his blood.

53.

SINNERS are fav'd by Jefu's blood,
How vile foe'er they be;

Eternal life's the gift of God,
And gifts are always free.

54.

SINCE my Redeemer's gone
T'appear before my God,

And fprinkle o'er the flaming throne
With his atoning blood;

2 No fiery vengeance now,
Nor burning wrath, I fear:
If fummon'd to the judgment bar,
My advocate is there.

'Tis thus my High Prieft intercedes, And fhews the cancell'd bill.

55.

BE ELIEVERS own that they are blind, But wifdom in the Lord they find;

Unrighteous, too, themselves confefs, But boaft of Chrift, their righteoufnefs.

2 That they're unholy, too, is plain,
But yet, in Chrift, without a stain;
By nature, too, children of wrath,
Yet they redemption have by faith.

3

To Jefus join'd, we've all that's good;
Seal'd by his Spirit, bought with blood;
In him we live, in him we stand,
Complete at God the Father's hand.

56.

HE who opens the blind

eyes,

Who the filthy fanctifies,

Who redeem'd us with his blood-
Is the Righteoufnefs of God:
We-in him-liv'd, bled, and died;

We-in him-were glorified;

We-in him—are now fat down;
We-through him-fhall wear the crown.

57.
I HAD I ten thousand gifts befide,
I'd cleave to Jefus crucified,

And build on him alone:
For no foundation is there giv'n,
On which to place our hopes of heav'n,
But Chrift, the Corner Stone.

2 Poffeffing Chrift, I all poffefs;

Wisdom, and ftrength, and righteoufnels,

And holiness complete:

Bold in his name, I dare draw nigh
Before God's pure, all-searching eye,
And all his justice meet.

58.

REJOICE, rejoice, ye fons of God,

Salvation now is come;

The virtue of Immanuel's blood

Strikes the accufer dumb.

2 Shout, fhout Immanuel's lovely name;
To him be glory giv'n!
Aloud through all the earth proclaim
That peace is made with heav'n.

Peace, peace is preach'd through Jefu's blood;
(To be enjoy'd by faith),
Whereby we are brought home to God
By virtue of Chrift's death.
