Turn to the Lord; their ways forfake;

Happy, happy, &c,

1 THAT doleful night before his death,

The Lamb for finners flain

Did almoft with his latest breath

This folemn feast ordain :

To keep thy feaft, Lord, are we met,
And to remember thee:

Help each poor trembler to repeat-
For me he died-for me.

2 Thy fuff'rings, Lord, each facred fign
To our remembrance brings;

We eat the bread, and drink the wine;
But think on nobler things:
O, tune our tongues, and fet in frame
Each heart, that pants to thee,

Invitation.

ESUS invites the poor

To meet around his board,

Where finful worms may fit and hod
Communion with their Lord.

2 For food he gives his flesh;
He bids us drink his blood:
Amazing favour-matchlefs grace-
Of our Redeemer God!

Sinners are received.

This man receiveth finners. Luke xv. 2.

THIS is the feaft of heav'nly wine ;
And God invites to fup.:

The juices of the living vine
Were prefs'd to fill the cup.

2 Oh blefs the Saviour, ye that eat,
With royal dainties fed;

Not heav'n affords a costlier treat
For Jefus is the bread!

3 The vile, the loft, he calls to them.
Ye trembling fouls, appear!
The righteous in their own efteem
Have no acceptance here.

Art thou a finner? why refufe
A banquet fpread for you?
Dear Saviour, this is welcome news-
Then I may venture too.

If guilt and fin afford a plea,

And may obtain a place;

Surely the Lord will welcome me,
And I fhall fee his face.

Melchifedec entertains Abraham,

MELCHISEDEC, our King and Prieft,

Brings forth his bread and wine;

And may we, as the Saviour's guests,
Receive the food divine!

? 'Tis not the outward fign can break
The hard and ftony heart;

But, if the Saviour does but speak,
The hardness will depart,

3 We want, O Lord, as we can bear,
Some feeling of thy death;
And may we in the bleffings fhare
Which come to us through faith!

Manna.

WHEN through the defert vast

The chofen tribes were led,

They could not plow, nor till, nor fow;
Yet never wanted bread.

Around their wand'ring camp

The copious manna fell;

Strew'd on the ground a food they found,
But what they could not tell,

3 But better bread by far

Is now to Chriftians giv❜n:

Poor finners eat immortal bread→→→→
The living bread from heav'n
