2 Let all your sacred feelings move,
While you rehearse his deeds;
But the great work of saving love
Your highest praise exceeds.

3 All that have motion, life, and breath, Proclaim your Maker bless'd;

Yet, when I break the bands of death,
My soul shall praise him best.

137 Hymn.

IN

As 148th Ps.

N long exalted strains
The King of glory praise;
O'er heav'n and earth he reigns,
Through everlasting days;

But Sion, with his presence bless'd,
Is his delight, his chosen rest.
2 O King of glory! come,

And with thy favour crown
This temple as thy home,

This people as thine own;
Beneath this roof vouchsafe to show
That God will dwell with man below.

3 Here let thine ear attend
Our supplicating cries;
Here let our praise ascend,
Accepted, to the skies;

Here let thy Gospel's joyful sound
Spread its celestial influence round.

N sacred fellowship we meet,

IN

To celebrate our Saviour's death: His blood we drink, his flesh we eat; His people feed on him by faith.

2 We worship him who bore the cross;
We glory in his death alone:
The world itself appears but loss

To those to whom his Name is known.

3 The blood he shed supplies a stream,
That washes all our guilt away;
How precious, then, his saving Name,
Whose death we celebrate this day!

4 Till he appears, his cross shall be

Our spring of hope, our theme of joy; And, when in heav'n our Lord we see, His praise shall all our pow'rs employ.

N vain the mind attempts to paint
The moment after death,—
The glories that surround the saint,
When he resigns his breath.

2 One gentle sigh his fetters breaks;
We scarce can say, " he 's gone,"
Before the willing spirit takes

Its station near the throne.

3 Faith strives, but all her efforts fail,
To trace its heav'nward flight;
No eye can pierce within the veil
Which hides that world of light.

4 Thus much (and this is all) we know,—
The saints are fully bless'd;

Are free from sin, and care, and woe,
And with their Saviour rest.

5 On harps of gold his Name they praise,
His face they always view;

And, if we here their footsteps trace,
There we shall praise him too.

8-7's

SRAEL's Shepherd! guide me, feed me,
Through my pilgrimage below;

And beside the waters lead me,

Where thy sheep rejoicing go.

2 Lord, thy guardian presence ever,
Meekly kneeling, I implore;
Since thy grace hath found me, never
Would I wander from thee more.

3 Grant that I may still be able,
In this wilderness to see
Rich provisions, and a table
Spread for sinners-spread for me!
4 Here thy bounty still partaking,
In these signs of bread and wine;
Freely all things else forsaking,
Let me find the Saviour mine.
5 So may I, thus freely pardon'd
By his matchless love and pow'r,
Hear him say, (no longer harden'd,)
"Go in peace, and sin no more!"

[blocks in formation]

1 I WILL praise thee ev'ry day,
Now thine anger's turn'd away;
Comfortable thoughts arise
From the bleeding sacrifice.

2 Praise ye, then, his glorious Naine;
Publish his exalted fame;
Raise again the joyful sound;
Let the nations spread it round!

142 Hymn.

C. M.

1 JERUSALEM, my happy home,

ever dear to me!

When shall my labours have an end,
And find their rest in thee?

2 Jesus, my Saviour, dwells therein,
In glorious majesty ;

And him, through ev'ry varied scene,
Onward I press to see.

3 Apostles, martyrs, prophets, there
Around my Saviour stand;
And all the saints in Christ below
Shall join the glorious band.

4 Jerusalem, my happy home!
My soul still pants for thee;
Then shall my labours have an end,
When once thy joys I see.

ESUS, bless'd source of

JESUS

[blocks in formation]

Our grateful vows, and fervent pray'r;

And with thy choicest favours bless,
And crown as thine, our infant race.

2 Dispose their hearts to learn thy will,
Their op'ning minds with knowledge fill;
Thy foll'wers let them ever prove,

And guide them to the realms above.

JESU

7's.

ESUS Christ is ris'n to day, Hallelujah!
Our triumphant holy-day;

Who did once, upon the cross,

Suffer, to redeem our loss.

2 Hymns of praise, then, let us sing,
Unto Christ, our heav'nly King;
Who endur'd the cross and grave,
Sinners to redeem and save.

3 But the pain which he endur'd
Our salvation hath procur'd;
Now, above the sky, he's King,
Where the angels ever sing.

ESUS invites his saints

JEST

To meet around his board;

Here pardon'd sinners meet, and hold
Communion with their Lord.

2 Here we survey that love

Which spoke in ev'ry breath,
Which crown'd each action of his life,
And triumph'd in his death.

3 Here let our pow'rs unite

His glorious Name to raise;
And holy joy fill ev'ry mind,
And ev'ry voice be praise.

146 Hymn.

8-7-7's.

ESUS is the Lord my Shepherd,
Then let fear be far away;
From the lion and the leopard,

And from ev'ry beast of prey,
He will guard his helpless sheep;
Jesus loves his own to keep.
