Of the Psalms found in our Bibles, only about seventy for the number varies in different. copies are ascribed to David. Of the others, Solomon, Asaph, Heman, Ethan, the sons of Korah, and even Moses, are named as the authors. The 150 Psalms found in our Bibles appear to have been distributed into five books, as follows: Book I, from Psalm 1 to 41. II, from 42 to 72. III, from 73 to 89. IV, from 90 to 106. V, from 107 to 150. It has been my object in this edition to arrange them chronologically, as far as possible, inserting among them certain other Psalms and Songs, which occur in other books of the Bible, SO as to form a complete body of Hebrew Lyric Poetry.
