High above all height His throne,
Excellent His name alone:

Him let all His works confess,
Him let every being bless.

PSALM 148.

Second Version.

PRAISE the Lord, ye heavens, adore Him;
Praise Him, angels in the height;

Sun, and moon, rejoice before Him ;
Praise Him, all ye stars, and light.

Praise the Lord, for He hath spoken,
Worlds His mighty voice obeyed;
Laws, that never shall be broken,

For their guidance He hath made.

Earth, from all thine habitations,
Echo back the holy song;

Yea! all kings, and tribes, and nations,
Your Creator's praise prolong.

And, His chosen race, adore ye
Him, who sets you up on high;
For to Him pertains all glory
Underneath the spreading sky.

PSALM 148.

Third Version.

GOD's majesty confess,

On high His power proclaim : All angels, join to bless

The Lord's most holy name :
Sun, moon, and stars,

And firmament,

With one consent,

His praise rehearse.

Warble His praises forth,

Ye works of His right hand: Ye worlds, that into birth

Started at His command.

Ye heavens on high,
Break into song;

With clouds, that throng

The lower sky.

He spake, and ye were made,
Ye wait upon His will:

And are in being staid,
His pleasure to fulfil.
Earth, with thine hosts,
Thine hymns upraise,
Take up His praise,
Thro' all thy coasts.

Yea! praise Him, fire, and flood,
And hail, and storm, and snow,
And mountains, that have stood
Through ages long ago.
Your Maker own,

Ye cedar trees,

And to the breeze,
In praise bow down.

Ye warblers of the wood,
With joy upon your wings,
And you, ye forest-brood,
Cattle, and creeping things,
Yea, all that breathe,
Or live, or move,
In Heaven above,
Or earth beneath:

Rulers of royal birth,

Judges of high degree,
And men of lesser worth,
All, whatsoe'er ye be,
From shore to shore

His praise proclaim,

And tell His name,

The wide world o'er.

PSALM 150.

PRAISE the Lord-the Lord Almighty! Praise Him in His Holy Place!

Praise Him, where, above the Heavens,
Shines the brightness of His face!

Praise Him for His deeds of wonder!
Praise Him for His majesty!
As in glory He excelleth,

So His praises magnify.

Praise Him with the pealing trumpet!
Praise Him with the psaltery!
Let the timbrel, harp, and organ,
Pour His endless praise on high.

Praise Him on the sounding cymbals !
Praise Him on the stringed chord!
Praise Him, every breathing creature!
Praise, oh praise the living Lord.
